Psychotherapy · Hove
Psychotherapy for Hove and the surrounding area, in person or online. Hove, with its elegant Regency squares, Church Road shops and wide seafront lawns, is home to my practice. From my room in nearby Hove I offer a calm, confidential space to do this work.

In and around Hove
Hove is home to the Sussex County Cricket Ground (the County Ground) and the King Alfred Leisure Centre; the practice itself is on Western Road in central Hove.
Life in Hove
Hove wears its character quietly. The Regency squares off Palmeira, the independent shops and cafes along Church Road and George Street, and the wide lawns between the seafront and the promenade give it a settled, unhurried feel that sets it apart from its louder neighbour. Families, older residents and professionals working from home all share these streets, and St Ann's Well Gardens draws people out whatever the season. For all its calm, life here carries its own weight, and having a confidential counselling room within walking distance of home matters to many. My practice sits on Western Road in the heart of it, so beginning the work can be as simple as a short stroll, or a video call from your own front room.

Psychotherapy here goes a little deeper and usually a little longer than counselling, into the patterns, beliefs and early relationships that shape how you feel now, so change is understood at the root and holds.
The approach is the same wherever you come from, so rather than repeat it on every page you can read it in full, the methods, what each session covers and fees, on the main psychotherapy page and on how I work.

When the same difficulty keeps returning in different forms.
How early bonds still shape the way you connect now.
Working with a harsh inner voice and a shaky sense of self.
When something unresolved keeps replaying beneath the surface.
Understanding the root, not just quieting the symptom.
Insight that holds, so change does not slip back.
Psychotherapy in Hove
When the same feelings keep surfacing, however settled life in Hove looks from the outside, you may want to understand them rather than keep managing them. Psychotherapy is the deeper, more open-ended work: exploring the patterns formed long ago and how they still shape your days here now. This is patient work, and having a consulting room a short walk away, on Western Road, makes committing to it easier. We can meet weekly in person, close to Palmeira Square and the lawns, or by secure video, at whatever depth feels right for you.
Not sure if it is right for you? A free fifteen-minute call is a no-obligation way to talk it through.

Seeing me privately usually means you can start sooner and stay with the same counsellor throughout, working at greater depth and pace; the two can run side by side, and I am glad to work alongside any NHS or GP support you already have.

Psychotherapy usually goes deeper and longer, into the patterns, beliefs and early relationships shaping how you feel now, rather than only the present difficulty. It suits people who notice the same things keep coming round.
Not necessarily, but depth work benefits from time. We agree the pace and depth together and review as we go, so it stays led by you.
Only where it helps make sense of the present. We follow what is alive and relevant for you, gently, never forcing a return to anything before you are ready.
Often it does involve regular, usually weekly, sessions over a longer period, because depth takes time. That said, the pace and length are always yours to shape. Being a short walk from central Hove makes a steady rhythm easier, and online sessions can fill in when needed.
We start with a free fifteen-minute call to see whether deeper, ongoing work fits, then set a regular weekly time. The room at 65-67 Western Road is central, a short walk from Brunswick, Cliftonville or the Drive, so keeping a consistent Hove appointment is genuinely easy.
Each session is £80 for sixty minutes, with £100 and £120 options for longer meetings, after a free consultation. The NHS rarely funds open-ended depth work, favouring brief courses, so Hove clients seeking sustained psychotherapy with the same therapist usually choose private sessions close to home.
Yes. Living in Hove, you can keep a steady weekly slot, walking in most weeks and using secure video when life gets in the way, without breaking the thread of the work. Evening appointments help protect that rhythm around your working day and family commitments.
