In and around Hove
Life in Hove
Hove is a good place to look settled in. Wide streets, the lawns along the front, a flat off Palmeira Square or a house up towards Blatchington, and a couple who present very well at other people's kitchen tables. What happens between you at home can be a long way from that. The rooms in a handsome old conversion have thin walls, so arguments get conducted at low volume or not at all, and the not at all becomes a habit. Along Church Road and George Street you pass couples every day who have been carefully not saying something to each other for years. From outside, none of it shows.

Couples often arrive separately and go for a walk on the lawns afterwards before heading home. Being local means you can keep a weekly time without it costing you an evening. Relationship Counselling in Hove
Some couples come after something specific: an affair, a discovery on a phone, a decision about money made without the other. More arrive because of a slow separation with no single cause. You are civil, you are organised, and something between you has gone out. Drinking is often somewhere in it, either as the reason evenings end badly or as something one of you now monitors. So is low mood, which reorganises a household around itself without anyone deciding that it should. In sessions we take the exchanges that keep failing and slow them until each of you hears what the other was actually asking for. Repair after broken trust is built in stages, at the pace of the person who was hurt. You are welcome on your own; changing your half of the pattern is real work with real effects. GP registers here recorded depression in 14.1% of adults aged 18 and over during 2024/25, marginally below the 14.3% England average. The Brighton and Hove Wellbeing Service accepts self-referrals.

Very few people find it is. The building is shared and busy, nothing on the door announces anything, and appointments are spaced so nobody meets on the stairs. Most people say walking home afterwards, rather than driving anywhere, is one of the better parts of it.
Nobody needs to refer you. Start with the free 15-minute consultation, which is a brief conversation about whether this is likely to help. First appointments are usually available within a week or two, and being local means the awkward gaps in the diary are often easier to fill.
The fee is per appointment, not per person: £80 for sixty minutes, £100 for ninety minutes, £120 for two hours. Couples frequently choose ninety minutes so that both of you get proper airtime rather than half an hour each. The first 15-minute conversation is free, by phone or in the room on Western Road.
