Life in Shoreham-by-Sea
Shoreham holds a lot of history in a small area, and people here hold their own. Trauma is rarely presented as trauma. It arrives as insomnia, as irritability that has started costing relationships, as a flat numbness walking past Marlipins Museum on a perfectly ordinary morning. Some of it comes from an accident or an incident at work. Some of it is much older and has never been named. Either way, the pattern looks similar: sleep that breaks, a jump at sudden noise, and a growing list of places, dates or conversations quietly steered around. Managing it alone is possible for years. It is also very tiring.

Trauma counselling here is gentle and led by you, drawing on methods designed for trauma including the Human Givens Rewind Technique, so a difficult memory is returned to ordinary recall.
What actually happens in the room is the same everywhere, so it is written up once: see everything on trauma counselling for the methods, how I work, sessions and fees for fees and session lengths, and my credentials and registration if you want to check who you would be working with.
Sessions take place in a private, comfortable room at Intergen House on Western Road in central Hove, held to the strict BACP confidentiality you would expect. We begin with a free fifteen-minute call to check we are a good fit, and the same sessions are available by secure video if travelling is difficult or you would simply prefer it.
Sessions run either in the private Hove room, fifteen to twenty minutes east along the coast, or online by secure video from wherever you feel safest. That decision belongs to you and can be revisited whenever you like. Some people want this work to stay physically separate from the house. Others want to finish the hour and not have to go anywhere. Both are done regularly and neither is a lesser option.

Trauma Counselling in Shoreham-by-Sea
Nobody here is going to ask you to walk through the event. Bradley uses the Human Givens Rewind Technique, which takes the charge out of a memory while you remain calm and in control, and it works without you describing the detail aloud. The early sessions stay in the present: how you are sleeping, what sets off the reaction, the situations you have arranged your life to avoid, and what genuinely settles you afterwards. Everything is checked with you as it goes, and you can slow it down or stop at any stage without needing to justify it. Across West Sussex, emergency hospital admissions for self-harm stood at 127.2 per 100,000 in 2023/24, above the England figure of 117 per 100,000. If you want an NHS route running alongside, NHS West Sussex Talking Therapies takes self-referrals and can assess trauma symptoms.

In a private room at Intergen House on Western Road in central Hove. Every service is also available by secure video across the UK, so you can meet from any private space in Shoreham-by-Sea or blend the two.
With how it is affecting you now rather than with the incident. Sleep, concentration, what you have started avoiding. Many people find that enough on its own for the first few sessions, and the memory work only follows if and when you want it to.
You do not. The Rewind Technique was chosen partly because it removes that requirement, and you keep control of what is said throughout. Saying very little is a legitimate way to do this work, not a sign that you are holding back.
The fee is £80 for sixty minutes, £100 for ninety and £120 for two hours. A longer appointment gives more space to settle before you head home over the bridge. Your first 15-minute consultation is free and involves no commitment at all.

It is managed so that it should not. The pace is set by you, sessions close with time to settle, and heavier work is not started when you have something demanding the next day. Most people find sleep and concentration improve as the vigilance eases.
