Online Relationship Counselling · Oldham

In and around Oldham
Life in Oldham
Privacy is not a small consideration in Oldham. In Chadderton, Royton, Failsworth and Hollinwood, extended families often live within a few streets of each other, and a marriage is watched over by people who mean well. That support is genuine, and it also means a couple in difficulty has an audience. Many people will not sit in a local waiting room for exactly that reason. Meanwhile the ordinary pressures grind on: insecure hours, a long commute on the tram, one wage stretched further than it should be. Couples arrive here having said nothing to anybody for a long time, sometimes years, and having said very little to each other either.

Relationship counselling here, for couples or individuals, slows down the pattern you are caught in and builds healthier ways of hearing and being heard.
The method travels; only the geography changes. relationship counselling in detail explains it properly, the practical side answers the practical questions, and how to check my registration shows how the practice is held to account.
Sessions run over a secure, encrypted video link, held to the same BACP confidentiality as meeting in person. After a free fifteen-minute call, you join from any private space on a phone, tablet or laptop.
Sessions run online from Hove by video or phone, and for a lot of people here that discretion is the deciding factor. Nobody sees you arrive anywhere, because there is nowhere to arrive. You can be at home with the door shut, or in the car, and you can both join from the same screen or from different rooms. If your partner will not take part, working alone on your side of it is a perfectly legitimate way to start.

Relationship Counselling in Oldham
The pattern couples describe is familiar: politeness that has replaced honesty, one person managing everything, and an argument that has been running for years under different names. Low mood is often somewhere in it, and it is recorded here at 16.4% of patients aged 18 and over on GP registers in 2024/25, above the England average of 14.3%. When one partner is depressed, the other tends to compensate, and compensating quietly becomes resentment. We work on what each of you needs to hear before you can hear anything, how to end a row without one of you walking out, and whether trust that was damaged can be rebuilt properly. Tameside, Oldham and Glossop Mind offers local support for individuals, and the NHS Talking Therapies finder is the free self-referral route in England.
Not sure if it is right for you? A free fifteen-minute call is a no-obligation way to talk it through.

Private sessions with me usually mean you can start sooner and stay with the same counsellor throughout; I am glad to work alongside any NHS or GP support you already have.

Oldham questions
No. Everything is online, so there is no local building, no reception and nobody in the area involved at all. Nothing is sent to your home unless you ask. Confidentiality is limited only by the usual duty where somebody's life is at serious risk.
One fee per session regardless of who attends: £80 for 60 minutes, £100 for 90 and £120 for two hours. Most couples prefer 90 minutes. The 15-minute consultation at the start costs nothing, and you can use it to ask whatever you want.
It is free and self-referred, and it is designed around one person's anxiety or depression rather than a relationship. Some households do both, with one partner getting individual NHS support whilst the two of you work on the marriage in these sessions.
It matters in the sense that it is worth talking about. Wanting to protect your family from worry is not the same as having something to hide, and how much you tell anyone stays entirely your decision. Nobody is contacted on your behalf.
Not at all, and it is quite a common opening position. One session can be enough for somebody sceptical to see that they will not be blamed. If they decline afterwards, you can carry on alone and the work still has somewhere useful to go.
Yes. Because it's all online, it makes no difference whether you're in central Oldham or out in Uppermill, Delph or Diggle. The hill villages can feel a fair way from support; meeting by video brings couples counselling to wherever you both are.
Usually within a week or two. I work online from Hove, so Oldham couples do not join a waiting list. We start with a free fifteen-minute call to check the fit, then book a first session that suits you both, whether you are in Chadderton, Royton or up towards Saddleworth.
Couples often choose the ninety-minute session at £100, as relationship work benefits from the extra time, though sixty minutes is £80. NHS support around the Royal Oldham Hospital leans towards individuals, so couples frequently come privately. The first fifteen-minute consultation is free.
Yes. As it is online, one of you can join from home in Failsworth and the other from work or away, and we still meet together. Evenings often suit once the day winds down, and I keep a regular slot so it stays a steady fixture for you both.
A free fifteen-minute call is the simplest place to start, no obligation, just a chance to see if we are the right fit.
