Online Relationship Counselling · Rochdale
Online relationship counselling for Rochdale, by secure video. From a base in Hove I work with people across Rochdale, from the town centre and the town hall to the streets around the Co-operative heritage, with the same BACP-registered, confidential support as an in-person session, and no journey.

In and around Rochdale
Life in Rochdale
This is a town that invented mutual help and is still oddly reluctant to accept any. The Co-operative heritage and the Pioneers Museum are a genuine source of pride here, and yet a couple in trouble in Castleton, Heywood or Milnrow will usually keep it to themselves for years. Everyone knows somebody. The textile past left insecure work in its place, and money worry does a particular kind of damage to a partnership: it makes small decisions into arguments and turns one of you into the person who says no. What arrives here is rarely a single betrayal. It is two people who have been braced against the same worry for a long time and have started blaming each other for it.

Relationship counselling here, for couples or individuals, slows down the pattern you are caught in and builds healthier ways of hearing and being heard.
Because the work itself is the same wherever you live, the detail sits in one place rather than all of them: the full relationship counselling page sets out the methods, session lengths and fees covers the practicalities, and my BACP registration covers accountability.
Sessions run over a secure, encrypted video link, held to the same BACP confidentiality as meeting in person. After a free fifteen-minute call, you join from any private space on a phone, tablet or laptop.
Sessions are online from Hove, by video or phone, and in a town this closely connected that privacy is often what makes the difference. Nobody sees your car outside anything. You can meet as a couple from the same sofa, or from two different places if shifts or travel make that easier, and there is no waiting list to join first. If one of you would rather not take part, the other can still do the work alone.

Relationship Counselling in Rochdale
Low mood is unusually well recorded here. Depression on GP registers stood at 21.1% of patients aged 18 and over in 2024/25, far above the England average of 14.3%, and depression rarely stays inside one person. The unwell partner withdraws and feels a burden; the other takes on everything and becomes efficient and cold with it. Both end up lonely without either saying so. Sessions look at that dynamic directly: what each of you is protecting, how a row escalates, and what has to happen after one so it does not simply settle into the furniture. We also work with trust after it has been broken. Rochdale and District Mind offers local support for individuals, the NHS Talking Therapies finder takes free self-referrals in England, and Turning Point runs Rochdale and Oldham Active Recovery if drinking has become part of the problem.
Not sure if it is right for you? A free fifteen-minute call is a no-obligation way to talk it through.

Rochdale questions
Yes. There is no local premises, no reception and nobody in the town involved. Notes stay with me and nothing is shared with your family, your doctor or your employer, other than in the rare circumstances where there is a serious risk to somebody's life.
The fee depends on length rather than headcount: £80 for 60 minutes, £100 for 90 minutes, £120 for two hours. Ninety minutes gives two people room to speak properly. A free 15-minute conversation happens first, with nothing owed either way.
It is free and self-referred in England, and its work is with individuals rather than couples, focusing on anxiety and depression. Using it for one partner's own state whilst bringing the relationship here is a common and perfectly workable combination.
It is one of the most frequent. Arguments about money are usually arguments about safety, fairness and who gets to decide. Once that becomes visible, the conversation changes shape considerably, even when the underlying financial situation has not changed at all.
Nobody does that here. The aim is to make each of you understandable to the other rather than to award a verdict. Most people are surprised how little judging happens, and sceptical partners often turn out to be the ones who use it best.
That's a common place to start. We can begin with a first conversation online, no commitment beyond it, and see how it feels for you both. There's no need to have things worked out in advance; that's part of what we'd do together, at whatever pace suits you.
Usually within a week or two. I am based in Hove and see Rochdale couples online, so there is no waiting list. We begin with a free fifteen-minute call to check I am the right fit, then book a first session that suits you both, whether you are in Castleton, Heywood or nearer the centre.
Relationship work usually suits the ninety-minute session at £100, though the standard sixty minutes is £80. NHS support around Rochdale Infirmary tends to focus on individuals, so couples often come to me privately. The first fifteen-minute consultation is free.
Yes. Because it is all online, one of you can join from your Rochdale home and the other from work or away, and we still meet as a couple. Evenings tend to suit best once the day settles, and I hold a regular slot so it stays steady week to week.
A free fifteen-minute call is the simplest place to start, no obligation, just a chance to see if we are the right fit.
Also available online across North West: Oldham, Manchester, Bolton. See all of North West.
