In and around Norwich
Life in Norwich
Norwich is a city people choose and then find themselves rather alone in. It sits apart from everywhere else, a long drive from the next centre, and couples who move here for a job at Aviva or a post at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital often arrive without any network of their own. That throws a great deal of weight onto one relationship. In the terraces of the Golden Triangle and out towards Thorpe Hamlet or Eaton there are two-person households doing the work that a wider circle would normally share: all the company, all the reassurance, all the conflict. When something goes wrong between you in a city like this, there is nowhere much for it to go.

Relationship counselling here, for couples or individuals, slows down the pattern you are caught in and builds healthier ways of hearing and being heard.
What actually happens in the room is the same everywhere, so it is written up once: see the main relationship counselling page for the methods, how I work for fees and session lengths, and my BACP registration if you want to check who you would be working with.
Sessions run over a secure, encrypted video link, held to the same BACP confidentiality as meeting in person. After a free fifteen-minute call, you join from any private space on a phone, tablet or laptop.
Sessions run online by secure video, which sidesteps the awkwardness of a small city where the same faces recur. Bradley is in Hove and holds no space here, so nothing is arranged around a building. Couples can be side by side or in separate rooms, and one of you being at work does not cancel the appointment. It is entirely usual for one partner to attend alone, either because the other will not or because that is what suits.

Relationship Counselling in Norwich
What brings couples here ranges from the loud to the barely visible. Repeated rows with no resolution. An affair and the slow question of repair. A partner who has withdrawn and cannot explain why. The gradual discovery that you are cohabiting rather than together. Sessions look closely at the exchange itself: what one of you means, what the other actually receives, and what happens in the two seconds after it lands. Depression in one partner alters everything around it. Across Norfolk, GP registers recorded depression in 13.9% of patients aged 18+ in 2024/25, just under the England average of 14.3%, and living beside that, or inside it, puts a strain few couples name out loud. Free NHS support is available by self-referral to Norfolk and Waveney Talking Therapies, with Norfolk and Waveney Mind offering local groups.
Not sure if it is right for you? A free fifteen-minute call is a no-obligation way to talk it through.

Norwich questions
It is very common and rarely talked about. When one person is your only source of company, ordinary friction has nowhere to dissipate. Sessions help you see which arguments are actually about the relationship and which are about isolation, then work on both rather than confusing them.
Yes, and it is a legitimate way to do this rather than a fallback. You examine your own contribution to the pattern, what you want, and how you communicate it. That alone shifts the dynamic. Some partners join later once they see nothing is being decided behind their back.
The fee covers the session, not the number of chairs: £80 for 60 minutes, £100 for 90 and £120 for 120. Most couples find ninety minutes the practical choice, since an hour splits awkwardly between two people. A free 15-minute consultation precedes any booking.
It is free and open to self-referral, so it is worth considering, but the service treats individual anxiety and depression rather than couples. A frequent arrangement is to use the NHS route for your own symptoms and keep the relationship work separate and private.
Often, yes. Different timetables, different money and different social worlds can leave two people living quite separate weeks under one roof. Counselling gives that difference a name instead of letting it harden into resentment about who is contributing what, and it makes room to agree how the next few years are meant to work.
Very. Because sessions run by video from Hove, there is no long drive into the city for either partner, which often makes couples work possible when it otherwise would not be. You both join from home, or from wherever each of you can speak freely.
Usually within a week or two. I work online across Norwich and rural Norfolk, from the Golden Triangle to a village near the Broads, so there is no waiting list. We begin with a free fifteen-minute call to check the fit, then book your first session together at a suitable time.
NHS Talking Therapies in Norfolk and Waveney are free but rarely offer dedicated couples work, and waits vary. I work privately, so we can start sooner: £80 for sixty minutes, £100 for ninety and £120 for two hours, with couples often choosing a longer session.
Yes. Because sessions are online from Hove, you can both join the same secure video call from different places, which suits couples split by work or distance across Norfolk. There is no drive into the city, no waiting room, and I keep some evening times free.
A free fifteen-minute call is the simplest place to start, no obligation, just a chance to see if we are the right fit.
