Online Relationship Counselling · Halifax
Online relationship counselling for Halifax, by secure video. From a base in Hove I work with people across Halifax, from the Piece Hall and the centre to the streets around the Minster, with the same BACP-registered, confidential support as an in-person session, and no journey.

In and around Halifax
Life in Halifax
The valleys around Halifax put physical distance into ordinary life. A few miles up towards Warley or Mixenden can mean a different world from Sowerby Bridge in winter, and couples living out on the hillsides can go days seeing almost nobody but each other. That intensifies whatever is already there. Add work that has been uncertain since the mills went, and money that has to be watched, and a partnership starts carrying more than two people can comfortably hold. The Piece Hall fills up on a good weekend and everybody looks fine. Then you drive home and the conversation you have been avoiding for a month is still sitting in the car with you.

Relationship counselling here, for couples or individuals, slows down the pattern you are caught in and builds healthier ways of hearing and being heard.
What actually happens in the room is the same everywhere, so it is written up once: see relationship counselling in detail for the methods, how I work, sessions and fees for fees and session lengths, and my BACP registration if you want to check who you would be working with.
Sessions run over a secure, encrypted video link, held to the same BACP confidentiality as meeting in person. After a free fifteen-minute call, you join from any private space on a phone, tablet or laptop.
Halifax is served online rather than in person, because Bradley works from Hove. In steep country with awkward journeys that turns out to be an advantage: no drive down the valley in the dark, no parking, no evening written off. You can sit together at one screen, join from two places, or come on your own. Coming alone is not a lesser version of the work; for many people it is the whole of it.

Relationship Counselling in Halifax
Couples here arrive with a wide range of trouble, and a good many individuals arrive without a partner at all. High anxiety was reported by 27.1% of adults locally in 2022/23, well above the England average of 23.8%, and worry at that level rarely stays inside the person who has it. It changes how a household talks, spends and sleeps. Recorded depression stood at 18% of patients aged 18+ on GP registers in 2024/25, against an England average of 14.3%. The work looks first at the difficult ten minutes between you, because the pattern is visible there, and then at what each of you learned about closeness long before you met. Repair after broken trust is slow and possible. NHS Talking Therapies takes self-referrals in England, Healthy Minds Calderdale is a local charity, and Calderdale Recovery Steps handles alcohol and drugs.
Not sure if it is right for you? A free fifteen-minute call is a no-obligation way to talk it through.
Book a free 15-minute callMy online counselling sits alongside the help available locally. In Halifax, you can refer yourself directly to NHS talking therapies for anxiety and depression, with no GP referral needed. You can find support through the NHS Talking Therapies finder.
Private sessions with me usually mean you can start sooner and stay with the same counsellor throughout; I am glad to work alongside any NHS or GP support you already have.
Other local and national support verified for this area includes:
This is not a crisis service. If anyone is in immediate danger call 999. For urgent mental health support, call NHS 111 and choose the mental health option. The Samaritans are free, day or night, on 116 123, or text SHOUT to 85258.
Halifax questions
The same way as anybody: a free 15-minute call first, then weekly sessions usually within a week or two. No referral, no list, and no journey at either end. Where the two of you can only both be free late in the evening, that is a workable slot rather than a problem.
No, the fee covers the session: £80 for 60 minutes, £100 for 90 minutes, £120 for 120 minutes. Two people usually get more out of the 90-minute appointment simply because there is more to be said. The opening 15-minute consultation is free and there is no obligation afterwards.
Healthy Minds Calderdale is an independent, user-led mental health charity in Halifax and worth knowing about. For NHS help you can self-refer to NHS Talking Therapies in England, which works with individuals rather than couples. Calderdale Recovery Steps is the drug and alcohol service in the town.
Rarely. Sessions can run on audio alone if the connection is unstable, and that works better than people expect. Some households use a phone connection instead of home broadband. We would test all of it during the free call rather than discovering it mid-session.
It is a perfectly real thing to bring. Dark evenings, difficult roads and a lot of enforced time indoors put pressure on couples, particularly where money is already tight. What we work on is not the weather but how the two of you handle being shut in with it.
Very. Because sessions run by video from Hove, there's no slow drive into Halifax for either partner, which often makes couples work possible when it otherwise wouldn't be. You both join from home, or wherever each of you can speak freely.
Usually within a week or two of a free 15-minute consultation. I work from Hove and see Halifax couples securely online, from King Cross to Sowerby Bridge, so the hill villages are no obstacle and there is no waiting list to join.
Couples usually choose 90 minutes at £100, or 60 minutes at £80. Relate and NHS services in Calderdale can cost less but often carry a wait, whereas private online work lets us begin sooner and hold a steady weekly time for you both.
Yes. As we meet by video there is no drive into Halifax, whatever the weather on the tops. We can work together or from two places if one of you is away, and I keep some evening slots so sessions fit around your week.
A free fifteen-minute call is the simplest place to start, no obligation, just a chance to see if we are the right fit.
