Life in Patcham
Anxiety in Patcham often hides in plain sight. The suburb still behaves like a village, with All Saints Church and the flint walls of Patcham Place at its centre and quiet avenues climbing north towards Ladies Mile. Familiar faces are everywhere. That can steady a person, and it can also make worry feel exposed, because the shop, the school gate and the bus stop are full of people who half know you. A few hundred yards away the A23 carries the morning commute down into the city. Plenty of people here reach Old London Road with a tight chest and a head already working through everything that might go wrong before nine o'clock.

Anxiety counselling here is practical and solution-focused: we work on the worry, panic, social anxiety and over-thinking that are actually affecting your day, and on simple ways to settle a nervous system stuck on high alert.
Rather than say the same thing on every page, the substance lives on the full anxiety counselling page, with session lengths and fees for the practical questions and how to check my registration for registration and ethics.
Sessions take place in a private, comfortable room at Intergen House on Western Road in central Hove, held to the strict BACP confidentiality you would expect. We begin with a free fifteen-minute call to check we are a good fit, and the same sessions are available by secure video if travelling is difficult or you would simply prefer it.
There are two options and neither is better than the other. You can sit down with Bradley in a private room in central Hove, or meet by secure video from home. From Patcham it is roughly fifteen minutes down the A23 and London Road into the city, then west. Some people find that small journey useful, because arriving somewhere nobody knows them is part of being able to speak plainly. Others would rather not add a drive to an anxious day.

Anxiety Counselling in Patcham
Anxiety work here is practical, and it is meant to be. We start with what your body is actually doing, because a racing heart, shallow breathing and a stomach that turns before the alarm all make sense once you can see the pattern behind them. Then we build ways to bring that response down that you can use on a platform, in a meeting, or halfway round the supermarket. After that, the things you have quietly begun avoiding come back one at a time, in an order you choose. Locally, 26.7% of adults reported a high anxiety score in 2022/23, above the England average of 23.8%, so this is common ground rather than a private failing. If you would rather try the NHS first, the Brighton and Hove Wellbeing Service takes self-referrals without a GP letter, and Mind in Brighton and Hove runs information and groups across the city.
Not sure if it is right for you? A free fifteen-minute call is a no-obligation way to talk it through.
Book a free 15-minute callMy counselling sits alongside the help available locally. In Patcham, you can refer yourself directly to the Brighton and Hove Wellbeing Service for free NHS talking therapy, with no GP referral needed.
Seeing me privately usually means you can start sooner and stay with the same counsellor throughout, working at greater depth and pace; the two can run side by side, and I am glad to work alongside any NHS or GP support you already have.

This is not a crisis service. If anyone is in immediate danger call 999. For urgent mental health support, call NHS 111 and choose the mental health option. The Samaritans are free, day or night, on 116 123, or text SHOUT to 85258.
Patcham questions
In a private room at Intergen House on Western Road in central Hove. From Patcham it is roughly fifteen minutes down the A23 and London Road into the city, then west to the Hove office. Every service is also available by secure video across the UK, so you can meet from any private space in Patcham or blend the two.
There is no waiting list. Most people begin with a free 15-minute call, which is really just a chance to say what is happening and hear how the work would go. If it feels like a fit, a first full session usually follows within a week or two of that conversation.
An hour is £80. Ninety minutes costs £100 and two hours £120, though anxiety work generally sits comfortably in the hour. The opening 15-minute consultation is free, so nothing is spent before you know whether Bradley is the right person for you.
You can, and a good number of people run the two alongside each other. That service takes self-referrals for anxiety and offers structured NHS support, though waits move about. Private sessions tend to begin sooner and run for as long as they are useful. Nothing stops you sitting on their list while you start here.
Both work properly. Where panic is tied to driving or to being far from home, doing some sessions in the Hove room can be quietly useful in itself. If travel is the thing spiking your anxiety this month, begin online and change your mind later. Nothing is fixed.
Yes. Sessions happen in central Hove, a good few miles from Ladies Mile and Carden Avenue, and nothing about attending is public. Online, the hour leaves the house only through your headphones. Notes are kept securely and your GP is not contacted unless you ask for that.
Yes. My room is in central Hove, a short trip across the city and well away from Patcham's familiar streets and school gates, so you are unlikely to meet anyone you know. If you would rather not travel, online video sessions keep things entirely private.
Book a free fifteen-minute call, then a session. From Patcham it is around fifteen minutes down the A23 and London Road into Brighton, then west to Hove, with buses following much the same route and parking near the room. If anxiety makes the trip hard, we can meet online.
Private sessions are £80 for an hour, £100 for ninety minutes and £120 for two, after a free consultation. You can self-refer to free NHS Talking Therapies for Brighton & Hove without a GP, but waits are common, so private work on your anxiety can begin sooner.
Both suit anxiety. Some prefer the drive down for the calm of the room; others, especially with social anxiety, find secure video from home easier. You can blend the two, and evening and weekend slots mean sessions fit around family and the school-gate routine.
A free fifteen-minute call is the simplest place to start, no obligation, just a chance to see if we are the right fit.
