Psychotherapy · Newhaven
Psychotherapy for Newhaven and the surrounding area, in person or online. Newhaven, a working port on the Ouse estuary with its fort and ferry to Dieppe, sits to the east of the city. From my room in nearby Hove I offer a calm, confidential space to do this work.

In and around Newhaven
Newhaven is a working cross-Channel ferry port with sailings to Dieppe and is home to the Newhaven Enterprise Zone.
Life in Newhaven
Newhaven is a working town at heart, built around its port on the mouth of the Ouse, with the cross-Channel ferry to Dieppe, the historic Fort on the headland and Paradise Park drawing people in. Denton and Meeching climb the hillsides above the harbour, and the estuary and West Beach give the place its own rugged character. It is a practical, hard-working community where money and work pressures are part of daily life, and reaching out for help can feel like a big step. A confidential counselling room along the coast in Hove offers a calm, private space to talk it through, and online sessions bring that support home when a trip is difficult.

Psychotherapy here goes a little deeper and usually a little longer than counselling, into the patterns, beliefs and early relationships that shape how you feel now, so change is understood at the root and holds.
The approach is the same wherever you come from, so rather than repeat it on every page you can read it in full, the methods, what each session covers and fees, on the main psychotherapy page and on how I work.
Sessions take place in a private, comfortable room at Intergen House on Western Road in central Hove, held to the strict BACP confidentiality you would expect. We begin with a free fifteen-minute call to check we are a good fit, and the same sessions are available by secure video if travelling is difficult or you would simply prefer it.
From Newhaven the coast road runs west through Peacehaven and Brighton to Hove, around twenty-five minutes by car. There is also a train via Lewes to Brighton and on to Hove, with two stations, Newhaven Town and Newhaven Harbour, in the town. There is parking near the room. Online video sessions are always available when travelling in is difficult.

When the same difficulty keeps returning in different forms.
How early bonds still shape the way you connect now.
Working with a harsh inner voice and a shaky sense of self.
When something unresolved keeps replaying beneath the surface.
Understanding the root, not just quieting the symptom.
Insight that holds, so change does not slip back.
Psychotherapy in Newhaven
When the same difficulties keep returning, however hard you work in Newhaven, you may want to understand what drives them rather than keep pushing through. Psychotherapy is the deeper, longer work of making sense of patterns laid down long ago and how they still shape your life now. Given the journey to Hove, many here do much of this work online, coming in when they can, which keeps the steady rhythm it needs. We work always at a depth and pace that feels safe.
Not sure if it is right for you? A free fifteen-minute call is a no-obligation way to talk it through.

Psychotherapy usually goes deeper and longer, into the patterns, beliefs and early relationships shaping how you feel now, rather than only the present difficulty. It suits people who notice the same things keep coming round.
Not necessarily, but depth work benefits from time. We agree the pace and depth together and review as we go, so it stays led by you.
Only where it helps make sense of the present. We follow what is alive and relevant for you, gently, never forcing a return to anything before you are ready.
It can be. With the trip to Hove around twenty-five minutes or a train via Lewes, many Newhaven clients do much of their deeper work by secure video, coming in occasionally. Online sessions are equally private, and a steady weekly rhythm is easier to keep that way.
We begin with a free fifteen-minute call to see if deeper, ongoing work suits you, then set a weekly time. From Newhaven the coast road west takes around twenty-five minutes by car, or a train via Lewes to Brighton and Hove, though many keep continuity more easily online.
Each session is £80 for sixty minutes, with £100 and £120 options for longer work, after a free consultation. The NHS rarely funds open-ended depth work, favouring short courses, so Newhaven clients seeking sustained psychotherapy with a consistent therapist usually choose private sessions.
