Online Relationship Counselling · Rotherham

In and around Rotherham
Life in Rotherham
In a town built on steel and coal, the deal in a lot of households was straightforward: one person earned, the other held everything else together, and neither talked much about how it felt. That deal has been coming apart for forty years, and couples are still living in what it left. Shifts in the town's steel and advanced manufacturing sector, agency work, a wage that does not move, and two people in Rawmarsh or Wickersley who are civil, organised and no longer close. Rotherham is a place where people keep things in. It shows up between partners as long silences, as sarcasm at teatime, and as the slow discovery that you are running a household together rather than a marriage.

Relationship counselling here, for couples or individuals, slows down the pattern you are caught in and builds healthier ways of hearing and being heard.
The method travels; only the geography changes. everything on relationship counselling explains it properly, the practical side answers the practical questions, and my credentials and registration shows how the practice is held to account.
Sessions run over a secure, encrypted video link, held to the same BACP confidentiality as meeting in person. After a free fifteen-minute call, you join from any private space on a phone, tablet or laptop.
Bradley is in Hove and works with people in Rotherham by secure video only. In a town where everybody's cousin knows everybody, not walking into a building is a real relief. You can talk from your own front room in Maltby, with the two of you on one screen or on separate devices if one is still at work. There is a free 15-minute call to begin with, then a set weekly time, often the first regular thing a couple has shared in months.

Relationship Counselling in Rotherham
Couples come when the distance has become undeniable, or when trust has gone and the conversation about it keeps going in circles. Low mood in one partner is behind a great deal of it. Recorded depression on Rotherham GP registers stood at 18.2% of patients aged 18+ in 2024/25, well above the England average of 14.3%, and depression at that scale does not stay in one person: the withdrawal reads as rejection, the rejection gets answered with criticism, and two people who still love each other end up living in separate weather. The work is to make each of you audible to the other again, and to say the difficult things in a room where they will not detonate. You can start alone. If drinking has become part of it, Rotherham Alcohol and Drug Service, known as ROADS and run by With You, is free and confidential, and the NHS Talking Therapies finder lets either of you self-refer for individual support in England.
Not sure if it is right for you? A free fifteen-minute call is a no-obligation way to talk it through.
Book a free 15-minute callMy online counselling sits alongside the help available locally. In Rotherham, you can refer yourself directly to NHS talking therapies for anxiety and depression, with no GP referral needed. You can find support through the NHS Talking Therapies finder.
Private sessions with me usually mean you can start sooner and stay with the same counsellor throughout; I am glad to work alongside any NHS or GP support you already have.

This is not a crisis service. If anyone is in immediate danger call 999. For urgent mental health support, call NHS 111 and choose the mental health option. The Samaritans are free, day or night, on 116 123, or text SHOUT to 85258.
Rotherham questions
Long-standing distance is more common than crisis, and it is not a lost cause simply because it is old. What tends to shift first is not the history but the way the two of you handle each other now. That change is usually noticeable within weeks.
It is not. Sixty minutes costs £80, ninety costs £100 and a two-hour session costs £120, regardless of whether one or both of you attend. Two people generally get more out of the ninety-minute session than the hour. Nothing is charged for the opening 15-minute consultation.
The NHS Talking Therapies finder lets anyone in England self-refer without going through a GP, and it costs nothing, so it is worth doing for whichever of you is struggling individually. It is aimed at the person rather than the partnership, so the two things do different jobs.
Then you come by yourself, which is a perfectly ordinary way to do this. You get to look at your own part in the pattern and at what you want, and that alone changes the dynamic at home. Some partners join later once nothing terrible has happened.
It cannot increase the income, and pretending otherwise would be dishonest. It can change what the shortage does to the two of you, because arguments about money are usually arguments about fear, fairness and who is carrying what, and those parts do move.
Very. Because sessions run by video from Hove, there's no drive into Rotherham for either partner, which often makes couples work possible when it otherwise wouldn't be. You both join from home, or wherever each of you can speak freely.
Usually within a week or two of a free 15-minute consultation. I work from Hove and see Rotherham couples securely online, from Wickersley to Rawmarsh, so there is no waiting list and no room or parking to sort out together in the town.
Couples usually choose 90 minutes at £100, or 60 minutes at £80. Relate and NHS services in Rotherham can cost less but often carry a wait, whereas private online work lets us begin sooner and hold a steady weekly time for you both.
Yes. A guarded start is common in Rotherham, and online work can feel more private than a local waiting room. We can meet together or from two places when one of you is away, and I keep some evening slots for busy weeks.
A free fifteen-minute call is the simplest place to start, no obligation, just a chance to see if we are the right fit.
