In and around Peterborough
Life in Peterborough
Peterborough has grown fast, and a lot of its couples are people who came here for work or for a house they could afford. That is a hopeful start and a demanding one. Building a life somewhere neither of you is from means no grandparents nearby for the school run, no old friends to complain to, and a relationship carrying every role at once. Work in the logistics and distribution sector along the A1 runs to nights and weekends, so two people in Bretton, Orton or Werrington can go days exchanging nothing but messages about who is collecting whom. Nobody chose that. It is simply what happens when the shifts and the mortgage set the terms.

Relationship counselling here, for couples or individuals, slows down the pattern you are caught in and builds healthier ways of hearing and being heard.
The method travels; only the geography changes. everything on relationship counselling explains it properly, how I work answers the practical questions, and qualifications, registration and ethics shows how the practice is held to account.
Sessions run over a secure, encrypted video link, held to the same BACP confidentiality as meeting in person. After a free fifteen-minute call, you join from any private space on a phone, tablet or laptop.
All sessions are by secure video. Bradley works from Hove and has no space in the city, so there is no drive across town after a night shift and no parking to find. Partners can join from one sofa or from two separate places, which matters when one of you is on lates for a fortnight. Turning up without your partner is perfectly normal here. The first 15-minute conversation is free and puts you under no obligation.

Relationship Counselling in Peterborough
Most couples arrive with a specific grievance and discover a general one behind it. The row about the washing is about being taken for granted. The row about money is about fear. The silence is about not wanting another argument tonight. Sessions work on the exchange between you, slowing it down until each of you can hear what is actually being asked. Anxiety is a heavy passenger in a partnership and it is notably common here. Some 26.6% of adults in Peterborough reported a high anxiety score in 2022/23, above the England average of 23.8%, which is a lot of households running at that pitch. If you want a free NHS option, the Talking Therapies service for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough accepts self-referrals, and CPSL Mind offers information and groups locally.
Not sure if it is right for you? A free fifteen-minute call is a no-obligation way to talk it through.

Peterborough questions
It can. Sessions are booked to suit the rota rather than an office diary, including daytime slots that work for someone sleeping in the evening. Where one week is impossible for both of you, the other partner can attend alone and bring the thread back.
Yes. Without relatives to absorb the pressure, every gap in the week has to be negotiated between two tired people, and that turns logistics into conflict. Sessions separate the practical planning from the resentment attached to it, which usually reduces both.
One session, one fee, regardless of who attends: £80 / 60 min, £100 / 90 min, £120 / 120 min. Couples often opt for ninety minutes so that both people get proper airtime. Everything begins with a 15-minute consultation that is provided free.
There is free NHS help, though it is designed for individuals. The Talking Therapies service covering Cambridgeshire and Peterborough takes self-referrals for anxiety and depression. Relationship work is a separate remit, so people often run the two in parallel rather than choosing between them.
It can wear one down without either person doing anything wrong. Long stretches of passing each other erode the small daily contact that keeps a couple connected. Counselling looks at what can realistically be protected in the week and how to reconnect in the time that does exist.
Because everything is online from Hove, we are not tied to clinic hours, so we can find a slot that catches you both, even around awkward rotas at the distribution parks or an early London train. You each join from home when the timing works.
Usually within a week or two. I work online across Peterborough, from Bretton and Orton to Werrington, so there is no waiting list to join. We start with a free fifteen-minute call to check the fit, then book a first session at a time that suits you both.
NHS Talking Therapies in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough are free but focus mainly on individual support, often with a wait. I work privately for a quicker start: £80 for sixty minutes, £100 for ninety and £120 for two hours, with couples often choosing the longer slot.
Yes. Because everything is online from Hove, we are not tied to clinic hours or an early London train. Couples can join together or from two places if one is on shift, and I keep some evening times free to work around rotas along the A1.
A free fifteen-minute call is the simplest place to start, no obligation, just a chance to see if we are the right fit.
