Life in Hassocks

Substance Use Counselling for people in Hassocks

Hassocks nestles at the foot of the Downs beneath the Clayton windmills, the pair known affectionately as Jack and Jill, with Adastra Park at its centre and the old village of Keymer merging into its eastern side. The steep scarp rises just to the south, carrying the railway through Clayton tunnel, and Ditchling Beacon stands within walking reach. It is a friendly commuter village with a strong sense of place, home to many who travel daily towards Brighton and London. That routine can be wearing, and personal struggles do not pause for the timetable. A confidential counselling room a short train ride away in Hove offers a private break from it all, with online sessions always an option.

The substance use counselling itself

Substance use counselling here is non-judgemental and one-to-one, working with the pain, fear or loneliness the substance has been managing, at a pace that protects your sense of safety.

The approach is the same wherever you come from, so rather than repeat it on every page you can read it in full, the methods, what each session covers and fees, on the main substance use counselling page and on how I work.

Sessions in person or online

Sessions take place in a private, comfortable room at Intergen House on Western Road in central Hove, held to the strict BACP confidentiality you would expect. We begin with a free fifteen-minute call to check we are a good fit, and the same sessions are available by secure video if travelling is difficult or you would simply prefer it.

From Hassocks a short train ride on the main line reaches Hove and Brighton in around fifteen minutes, or it is a fifteen to twenty minute drive south over the Downs on the A273 and A23. Hassocks Station is central to the village. There is parking near the room. Online video sessions are always available when travelling in is difficult.

Substance Use Counselling in Hassocks

Why people in Hassocks come for substance use counselling

In a quiet Downs village like Hassocks, substance use is often carried privately, where the calm of village life makes admitting a struggle harder rather than easier. Substance use counselling here is confidential and one-to-one, working with what the substance has been managing rather than judging the using. Hove is a short train or drive over the Downs, and online sessions keep the work entirely private in a close community where faces are familiar.

Hassocks questions

Substance Use Counselling in Hassocks: common questions

Where do Hassocks sessions take place, and can I meet online instead?

In a private room at Intergen House on Western Road in central Hove. From Hassocks a short train ride or a fifteen to twenty minute drive over the Downs brings you to Hove. Every service is also available by secure video across the UK, so you can meet from any private space in Hassocks or blend the two.

Can I get support while I'm still using?

Yes. This is non-judgemental, one-to-one work that meets you where you are, and it can run alongside any medical or detox support you have.

How is this different from a group or 12-step programme?

It is individual and shaped entirely around you. Some people use it instead of groups, others alongside them.

Will you tell my GP or employer?

No. What you share is confidential within the BACP framework; nothing goes to anyone else without your consent.

Will anyone in the village know I am coming?

No. Sessions are held in central Hove, away from Hassocks, with no shared waiting area, and online is an option too. Nothing is shared without your consent, under the BACP framework.

Is the train from Hassocks quick for substance use counselling?

Yes. Trains on the main line reach Hove and Brighton in around fifteen minutes from Hassocks Station, with a short walk to Western Road; driving over the Downs takes a similar time. Start with a free fifteen-minute call on 07914 681995 or online.

Free or paid for substance use support in Hassocks?

Both. In West Sussex you can self-refer to Change Grow Live for free substance help with no GP needed. Privately, fees are £80 for sixty minutes, £100 for ninety and £120 for two hours after a free call, and the two can run together.

Do you offer evening or online substance use sessions for Hassocks?

Yes. A quick train brings you to the Hove room, with evening appointments to fit around work, but secure video is equally private when travelling in is inconvenient. You can move between in-person and online as your week falls.

Yes. Trains on the main line reach Hove and Brighton in around fifteen minutes from Hassocks Station, with a short walk to Western Road afterwards. Driving over the Downs takes a similar time. When the trip is inconvenient, online video sessions are just as private and effective.
