Life in Seaford
Seaford sits well east of the city, under Seaford Head, with the long shingle beach and the wind coming straight off the water. It is a town where a lot of couples have grown older together, and where a relationship can change shape without anyone naming what has happened. One of you gets ill, or slows down, and gradually the other becomes a carer as well as a partner. The tenderness is still there. So is a resentment neither of you would ever say aloud, and a loneliness that feels unreasonable given that you are together all day. Nobody prepares you for how much a marriage can be reorganised by illness or age.

Relationship counselling here, for couples or individuals, slows down the pattern you are caught in and builds healthier ways of hearing and being heard.
The method travels; only the geography changes. the full relationship counselling page explains it properly, how sessions run and what they cost answers the practical questions, and my credentials and registration shows how the practice is held to account.
Sessions take place in a private, comfortable room at Intergen House on Western Road in central Hove, held to the strict BACP confidentiality you would expect. We begin with a free fifteen-minute call to check we are a good fit, and the same sessions are available by secure video if travelling is difficult or you would simply prefer it.
Face-to-face sessions take place in Hove, around thirty minutes west by car, or by train along the coast with a change on the way. That is a real journey, so people tend to book a slot that makes the trip worth it and keep it consistent. Individuals attend without their partner as a matter of course. Where caring commitments or health make travelling impractical, the whole of this work runs online by secure video.

Relationship Counselling in Seaford
Relationship counselling covers more ground than couples in trouble. It includes the partnership that has quietly become a care arrangement, the one where illness has changed what each of you can offer, and the one where love and exhaustion are living side by side. Both belong in the same hour. What gets looked at is what has gone unspoken: the grief for the relationship you used to have, the guilt attached to wanting time alone, and the way irritation gets discharged over something trivial because the real thing is unsayable. You do not need your partner's agreement, or their presence, to begin. Depression recorded on local GP registers reached 17.4% of adults in 2024/25, well above the England average of 14.3%. Where low mood has settled on one of you, Health in Mind, the East Sussex NHS Talking Therapies service, accepts self-referrals at no cost. Sussex Mental Healthline is there for a bad night at any hour.
Not sure if it is right for you? A free fifteen-minute call is a no-obligation way to talk it through.

It is. Minding is not a betrayal of him, and having somewhere to say so usually reduces the pressure rather than increasing the guilt. Sessions can hold both the affection and the strain, which is difficult to do alone or with family.
For some people, yes, particularly with a fixed slot and a quiet time of day. For others it is too much on top of everything else. Those people work online by secure video and lose nothing of the substance. Many alternate between the two.
Sessions are priced by length, not by how many of you attend: £80 / 60 min, £100 / 90 min, £120 / 120 min. Couples usually get more from ninety minutes. A free 15-minute consultation comes first so you can ask before deciding anything.
Its focus is anxiety and depression in individuals rather than couples work as such, but it is free, it takes self-referrals without a GP, and it is well worth contacting. People frequently use it for their own mood while bringing the relationship itself to private sessions here.
Not remotely. Working on your own responses, your limits and what you need changes the dynamic between you, whether or not he ever attends. Plenty of relationship work is done by one person, and it is a proper piece of work in itself.
By car it is around thirty minutes west to Hove, or a train via Lewes or Newhaven into Brighton and on to Hove. Seaford sits at the end of the branch line. Because the journey takes a while, many couples find online video sessions the easier choice.

Yes. Couples can come to the Hove room or share a secure video call from home, which many Seaford clients prefer given the thirty-minute distance. Individuals are welcome alone. Evening slots are available, and you can mix the occasional trip in with online sessions week to week.
A free fifteen-minute call is the simplest place to start, no obligation, just a chance to see if we are the right fit.
