Online Substance Use Counselling · Luton
Online substance use counselling for Luton, by secure video. From a base in Hove I work with people across Luton, from the town centre and High Town to the streets around the airport, with the same BACP-registered, confidential support as an in-person session, and no journey.

In and around Luton
Life in Luton
Drug use in Luton is largely a private matter conducted in ordinary houses. Farley Hill, Round Green, Limbury: the same streets, the same front doors, nothing to point at. A fair amount of it began as something practical. Something to stay sharp through a night shift at the airport, something to come down again when the shift finished and the rest of the world was starting work. Some of it began at the University of Bedfordshire and simply carried on after the course did. Deaths from drug misuse in the town ran at 6.1 per 100,000 across 2022 to 2024, above the England average of 5.8 per 100,000, which sits oddly against how invisible the whole subject feels.

Substance use counselling here is non-judgemental and one-to-one, working with the pain, fear or loneliness the substance has been managing, at a pace that protects your sense of safety.
Rather than say the same thing on every page, the substance lives on everything on substance use counselling, with how I work, sessions and fees for the practical questions and my credentials and registration for registration and ethics.
Sessions run over a secure, encrypted video link, held to the same BACP confidentiality as meeting in person. After a free fifteen-minute call, you join from any private space on a phone, tablet or laptop.
Every Luton appointment is by secure video, since Bradley sees people from Hove. Video removes the bus fare and the reception desk in one go, which matters when the thing you are coming to talk about is something you have kept quiet. You take the hour from your own space, at a time that stays yours each week. Beginning with the camera off is allowed, and telephone works when a connection will not hold.

Substance Use Counselling in Luton
Nothing here requires you to have stopped first. Specialist treatment does reach people in Luton: 6.6 adults per 1,000 were in treatment at specialist drug-misuse services in 2020/21, above the England average of 4.5 per 1,000. Even so, a lot of people sit outside all of it, waiting to feel bad enough to qualify. You are not asked to qualify. We start with what you actually use, how often, and what it does for you, because that question gets skipped almost everywhere else and it is the one that explains the rest. Then we look honestly at the cost. This is talking work and nothing else. Prescribing and anything to do with withdrawal belongs with ResoLUTiONs, the Luton service run by Change Grow Live, or with your GP, and the NHS find a service directory sets out what else is available near you.
Not sure if it is right for you? A free fifteen-minute call is a no-obligation way to talk it through.
Book a free 15-minute callMy online counselling sits alongside the help available locally. You can find your nearest free NHS-funded drug and alcohol service via the NHS “find a service” directory (search “Luton”).
For confidential information and advice, FRANK (on 0300 123 6600) and Drinkline on 0300 123 1110 are free, and Alcoholics Anonymous and SMART Recovery run peer-support meetings you can find online.
Other local and national support verified for this area includes:
This is not a crisis service. If anyone is in immediate danger call 999. For urgent mental health support, call NHS 111 and choose the mental health option. The Samaritans are free, day or night, on 116 123, or text SHOUT to 85258.
If you drink heavily or use drugs daily, do not stop suddenly on your own. Withdrawal can cause seizures and can be dangerous. Speak to your GP or a local drug and alcohol service first, and they can arrange a safe, medically supported withdrawal. Counselling works alongside that, not instead of it.
Luton questions
No. Uncertainty is where most people begin, and it is a workable place to start from rather than a reason to wait. A good deal of the useful thinking happens there, weighing what using gives you against what it takes. Whatever you decide comes later and comes from you.
The 15-minute consultation is free and carries no obligation. After that an hour is £80, ninety minutes £100 and two hours £120, paid appointment by appointment. Statutory drug services are free at the point of use, so it is entirely reasonable to approach ResoLUTiONs as well or instead.
ResoLUTiONs, the town's alcohol and drug recovery service, delivered by Change Grow Live. It is the route for prescribing, needle exchange and structured treatment. The NHS find a service directory will confirm it by postcode, and Mind BLMK offers wellbeing support in the town alongside whichever route you use.
Usually, yes. Headphones and a closed door handle most of it, and some people book a time when the house is empty or take the session sitting in a parked car. Bradley will not phone or email in any way that announces what the contact is about.
You will not be turned away. The only thing asked is that you are present enough to take part and to remember the hour afterwards. If you have used heavily, we can move the appointment rather than waste it. Honesty about the state you are in is more useful than a tidy performance.
It may be worth exploring. Substances used to manage shift work and a disrupted body clock can quietly become something you depend on. There is no judgement here; we simply look at what it does for you and, if you want, find steadier ways to handle the rotas.
Generally yes. A free 15-minute consultation comes first, then a regular time, often within a week. There is no clinic to reach and no referral queue, so you can join securely from home in Leagrave, Stopsley or near Wardown Park, fitted around unsociable hours.
There are free routes: your GP can refer you, Luton's drug and alcohol service takes self-referrals, and FRANK offers confidential national advice online or by phone. This counselling is private, at £80 for 60 minutes, £100 for 90 and £120 for 120, with a free consultation.
Online usually fits best, since unsociable rotas and money worries leave little slack, and a confidential space that flexes around those hours reaches you at home with no travel. Evenings and days off both work. In-person is possible in Hove, a train down to the coast, if you prefer.
A free fifteen-minute call is the simplest place to start, no obligation, just a chance to see if we are the right fit.
Also available online across London & South East: Watford, Milton Keynes, London. See all of London & South East.
If substance use counselling is not quite what you are looking for, addiction counselling, counselling for drinking problems and anxiety counselling may fit better in Luton.
Some further reading, if that helps before getting in touch: calming a craving as it rises and once an addict, always an addict?.
For anyone near the coast, the same substance use counselling runs in person in Hove, where the room is. Every area covered is listed separately.
