Online Substance Use Counselling · Doncaster
Online substance use counselling for Doncaster, by secure video. From a base in Hove I work with people across Doncaster, from the town centre and the Minster to the streets around the racecourse, with the same BACP-registered, confidential support as an in-person session, and no journey.

In and around Doncaster
Life in Doncaster
In Doncaster drug use tends to look thoroughly domestic. Somebody in Hexthorpe or Wheatley gets the kids to school, does a full shift, and uses in the gap between finishing and sleeping because that gap is the only part of the day that is theirs. Cocaine has become unremarkable at weekends and then quietly stopped waiting for them. Prescribed medication follows its own slow arc. The town has been written off often enough by other people that admitting to a drug problem can feel like agreeing with them, so it stays unsaid and gets heavier for it. The people who get in touch are almost never in freefall; they are simply tired of carrying something on their own.

Substance use counselling here is non-judgemental and one-to-one, working with the pain, fear or loneliness the substance has been managing, at a pace that protects your sense of safety.
Because the work itself is the same wherever you live, the detail sits in one place rather than all of them: the full substance use counselling page sets out the methods, how I work covers the practicalities, and professional standards and registration covers accountability.
Sessions run over a secure, encrypted video link, held to the same BACP confidentiality as meeting in person. After a free fifteen-minute call, you join from any private space on a phone, tablet or laptop.
Everything runs by secure video, with Bradley based in Hove, so there is no building here to be seen entering and no local staff who might recognise you from somewhere else. Sessions can be fitted around shifts at any hour that works, including late evening. If you have used on the day we speak, that is information rather than a rule broken, and it stays part of what we look at together.

Substance Use Counselling in Doncaster
This is drug-focused counselling with no requirement that you have stopped, are ready to stop, or have decided anything at all. Engagement with formal help in Doncaster is already high, with 6.9 adults per 1,000 in treatment at specialist drug-misuse services in 2020/21 compared with an England average of 4.5 per 1,000, and the harm is high too, with deaths from drug misuse at 10.5 per 100,000 over 2022 - 24 against 5.8 nationally. I do not prescribe, test or hand out equipment. Aspire does that, through City of Doncaster Council's substance misuse support, and it is worth having alongside this. Our hour goes to the questions those appointments never have room for: what the substance settles for you, what it costs, what it replaced, and whether anything else could plausibly do the job.
Not sure if it is right for you? A free fifteen-minute call is a no-obligation way to talk it through.
Book a free 15-minute callMy online counselling sits alongside the help available locally. In Doncaster, free local drug and alcohol support is available through City of Doncaster Council's substance misuse support.
For confidential information and advice, FRANK (on 0300 123 6600) and Drinkline on 0300 123 1110 are free, and Alcoholics Anonymous and SMART Recovery run peer-support meetings you can find online.
Other local and national support verified for this area includes:
This is not a crisis service. If anyone is in immediate danger call 999. For urgent mental health support, call NHS 111 and choose the mental health option. The Samaritans are free, day or night, on 116 123, or text SHOUT to 85258.
If you drink heavily or use drugs daily, do not stop suddenly on your own. Withdrawal can cause seizures and can be dangerous. Speak to your GP or a local drug and alcohol service first, and they can arrange a safe, medically supported withdrawal. Counselling works alongside that, not instead of it.
Doncaster questions
No. There is no note to the police, your employer or your family, and I do not write to your GP unless you specifically want me to. Confidentiality only gives way where there is serious and immediate danger to life, and I would talk that through with you first.
Not here. That condition suits certain programmes and excludes an awful lot of people who need somewhere to think. You can be using regularly and still do useful work, provided we are both honest about what is actually going on.
The first 15-minute consultation is free and comes with no obligation whatsoever. After that, sessions are £80 / 60 min, £100 / 90 min or £120 / 120 min, charged individually. You are never asked to pay for a block of appointments in advance.
Yes, and a good number of people in this town do precisely that. A parked car with headphones is often the most private space available. What we need is somewhere you can speak honestly for an hour, not a particular kind of room.
It does, and it is one of the more common reasons people get in touch from this area. Stimulant use tends to be tied to confidence, energy and social pressure, so the work goes at those directly rather than treating the drug as the whole story.
Yes. Because everything is online, we can find a time that works around rotas rather than office-hours appointments. If a shift changes, moving a video session is far simpler than rearranging a trip into Doncaster, so a regular slot is easy to keep.
Yes. I'm Bradley Riddell, a counsellor based in Hove, and I see people across Doncaster online rather than from a room in the city. We begin with a free 15-minute consultation, then set a regular weekly slot for substance use support, usually starting within a week or two once you feel ready.
For Doncaster it is online rather than in person, since my room is in Hove on the south coast. Many find secure video suits substance use work well, joining from home in Bessacarr or Bentley without a commute. I hold some daytime and early-evening slots, so we can usually find a regular time that fits.
A free fifteen-minute call is the simplest place to start, no obligation, just a chance to see if we are the right fit.

If substance use counselling is not quite what you are looking for, addiction counselling, counselling for drinking problems and anxiety counselling may fit better in Doncaster.
