In and around Leeds
Life in Leeds
Leeds keeps couples busy enough to postpone things for years. One of you is in the financial and legal sector around Wellington Place with a diary that fills six weeks ahead; the other is on a ward rota at Leeds Teaching Hospitals and hands over the house like a shift change. Between Horsforth and the centre there is a commute that eats the evening. The mortgage on the Chapel Allerton terrace went up and neither of you has said out loud what that means. From outside it looks like two capable people running a good life. Inside it is two capable people who have not had an unhurried conversation since spring, and who now find each other slightly irritating for no reason worth naming.

Relationship counselling here, for couples or individuals, slows down the pattern you are caught in and builds healthier ways of hearing and being heard.
The approach does not change with the postcode, so rather than repeat it on every page you can read it in full, the methods and what each session covers, on the main relationship counselling page, alongside how I work, sessions and fees and how to check my registration.
Sessions run over a secure, encrypted video link, held to the same BACP confidentiality as meeting in person. After a free fifteen-minute call, you join from any private space on a phone, tablet or laptop.
Sessions run online by secure video, because Bradley is in Hove rather than anywhere in West Yorkshire. That solves the practical problem this city creates: finding one hour when two diaries and a train line agree. You can join from home in Meanwood, or separately if one of you is working late in town. Early evening slots exist. A free 15-minute consultation comes first, and after that a weekly time you both protect, which is itself part of the repair.

Relationship Counselling in Leeds
What brings people is rarely one catastrophe. It is drift, or a betrayal that neither of you has put down, or the discovery that you now negotiate rather than talk. Recorded depression on Leeds GP registers stood at 13% of patients aged 18+ in 2024/25, below the England average of 14.3%, but low mood in one partner reshapes a household regardless of where a city sits in a table: the withdrawal gets read as coldness, the coldness gets answered with distance, and both of you end up lonely in the same house. We work on what happens in the gap between what you meant and what landed. You do not need to come as a pair. Leeds Mental Wellbeing Service is the local NHS self-referral route for individual anxiety and depression, Leeds Mind runs support in the city, and Forward Leeds is the free alcohol and drug service if drinking has become part of what you argue about.
Not sure if it is right for you? A free fifteen-minute call is a no-obligation way to talk it through.
Book a free 15-minute callMy online counselling sits alongside the help available locally. In Leeds, you can refer yourself directly to Leeds Mental Wellbeing Service for free NHS talking therapy, with no GP referral needed.
Private sessions with me usually mean you can start sooner and stay with the same counsellor throughout; I am glad to work alongside any NHS or GP support you already have.

This is not a crisis service. If anyone is in immediate danger call 999. For urgent mental health support, call NHS 111 and choose the mental health option. The Samaritans are free, day or night, on 116 123, or text SHOUT to 85258.
Leeds questions
There is. One person changing how they respond alters the pattern the two of you are stuck in, and it also gives you somewhere to think that is not the middle of a row. Some partners join after a few months once they see it is not a tribunal.
£80 for 60 minutes, £100 for 90 minutes, £120 for 120 minutes, charged per session rather than per person. With two people talking, 90 minutes usually earns its keep. The initial 15-minute consultation is free, and there is no package to sign up to.
That service is the NHS self-referral route for individual anxiety and low mood rather than couples work, so it is a good option for one of you personally. Many people run the two together, using it for their own symptoms while the relationship itself is worked on here.
Evening appointments are available, and video removes the half-hour each way that usually kills the idea. Some couples take a slot straight after work, one from the kitchen and one still at a desk in the city, and find that easier than trying to be in the same room by seven.
Looking fine is exhausting, and this is a city where a great deal of strain stays behind a front door. Nobody is assessed on how bad things are before being allowed to talk. If the distance between you bothers you, that is reason enough.
Yes. Many people in Leeds begin on their own, wanting to understand their part in how things feel at home. Working online from Hove, you can start solo and your partner can join later if you both wish, at a slot that fits around your working week.
After a free 15-minute consultation we can usually agree a first session within a week or two. I am based in Hove and work with Leeds couples securely online, so wherever you are, from Headingley to Horsforth, there is no waiting list and no cross-city trip to arrange.
Couples usually choose the 90-minute session at £100, with 60 minutes at £80 if time is short. The NHS and Relate offer lower-cost support in Leeds but often with a wait, while working privately online lets us start sooner and keep a steady weekly slot.
Yes. Because we meet online you can each join from home, a quiet office, or wherever you can speak privately, so no commute across Leeds is needed. I keep some evening slots, and if one of you travels for work we can still meet from two different places.
A free fifteen-minute call is the simplest place to start, no obligation, just a chance to see if we are the right fit.
Also available online across Yorkshire & North East: Bradford, Wakefield, Sheffield. See all of Yorkshire & North East.
