Anxiety and worry
When your mind will not settle and everything feels urgent.
Online Counselling and Therapy · Margate
Online counselling and therapy for Margate, by secure video. From a base in Hove I work with people across Margate, from the Old Town and the seafront to the streets around the sands, with the same BACP-registered, confidential support as an in-person session, and no journey.

In and around Margate
Life in Margate
Margate is photographed a great deal, and very little of it looks like a Tuesday in Garlinge. The Turner Contemporary and Dreamland bring people down from the city at weekends; the rest of the week is school runs, shifts and a bus that takes a while. Plenty of residents describe a gap between the bright version of the town and their own flat mood, and find that gap hard to explain to anyone. You might not be able to put a name to any of it. You might only know that you have stopped ringing people back, that Sunday evenings sit heavily on you, and that the sea does not lift it the way it used to.

Counselling and therapy here is one steady starting point for whatever you are carrying, anxiety, low mood, addiction, relationships or the past, integrative and led by you, so we begin with what matters most and shape the work around you.
The approach does not change with the postcode, so rather than repeat it on every page you can read it in full, the methods and what each session covers, on the counselling and therapy page, alongside how I work, sessions and fees and qualifications, registration and ethics.
Sessions run over a secure, encrypted video link, held to the same BACP confidentiality as meeting in person. After a free fifteen-minute call, you join from any private space on a phone, tablet or laptop.
All sessions are held online by secure video, because Bradley is in Hove and there is no counselling space in Thanet to walk into. That removes the awkward bit of a first attempt: no waiting area, no journey to explain, no one to walk past. We begin with a free 15-minute call, arranged around your hours rather than office ones, and you decide afterwards whether a full session is something you want. There is no obligation either way.

Counselling and Therapy in Margate
Use this when you cannot yet name the thing. It is present-focused work of a shorter kind, looking at how the last stretch of months has actually gone, what is taking the energy, and what you would want to be different by the summer. Somewhere between six and twelve weekly sessions covers it for many people. You do not need a diagnosis, a crisis or a good reason. It is worth setting against the local numbers: recorded depression on GP registers stood at 17.1% of adults aged 18 and over in 2024/25, above the England average of 14.3%, which means a lot of people around here are already carrying something without much attached to it. NHS Talking Therapies in Kent and Medway is free and takes self-referrals straight from you, and East Kent Mind, which covers Thanet, runs local support that costs nothing to try.
Not sure if it is right for you? A free fifteen-minute call is a no-obligation way to talk it through.

Margate questions
Yes. Most people who make contact are functioning perfectly well from the outside and have told nobody. Flat is a reasonable thing to bring, and a good deal easier to work with early than after another two years of it. Start with the free 15-minute call.
You can, and many people do exactly that. Payment is per session with nothing committed beyond the following week: £80 / 60 min, £100 / 90 min or £120 / 120 min, plus a free 15-minute consultation before any of it. Stopping when you feel finished is entirely normal.
It is, and the two do not clash. Referring yourself to NHS Talking Therapies in Kent and Medway takes a form rather than a GP appointment, and it is free. Plenty of people put their name down there and start privately while they wait to be contacted.
For about ten minutes, then it usually stops being the point. You are talking to one person for an hour, which is what it would be in any building. Several people find their own front room easier than an unfamiliar office, and the sessions are easier to keep going.
That comparison keeps a lot of people here quiet for years. Living somewhere beautiful does not pay a bill or fill a Sunday, and a place that lifts visitors on a weekend can feel very different in the middle of February. You do not have to justify it to book an hour.
Absolutely. Many people in Margate feel that distance between the bright, regenerated image and their own day-to-day reality. Online sessions give you a private, unhurried space to talk about exactly that, without any pretence, held from the comfort of home.
Generally within days. With no waiting list, a free 15-minute consultation is usually followed by a first session that same week. It is held securely online, joined from home near the Main Sands or out towards Ramsgate, so the tip of Thanet adds no journey to attend.
You pay £80 for 60 minutes, £100 for 90 minutes or £120 for 120 minutes, after a free 15-minute consultation. NHS Talking Therapies is free to self-refer to but can mean waiting, while private counselling with Bradley starts sooner and keeps a consistent weekly time.
Yes. That sense of being a distance from larger towns is very familiar here. Online sessions bring a steady, confidential hour to you, joined from home with evening times available, so support does not depend on travelling anywhere off the Isle of Thanet.
A free fifteen-minute call is the simplest place to start, no obligation, just a chance to see if we are the right fit.

There is more on this in my writing: where to start when you cannot name it and how change actually sticks.
