Online Addiction Counselling · Milton Keynes
Online addiction counselling for Milton Keynes, by secure video. From a base in Hove I work with people across Milton Keynes, from across the grid squares, Central Milton Keynes to the streets around the grid roads, with the same BACP-registered, confidential support as an in-person session, and no journey.

In and around Milton Keynes
Life in Milton Keynes
Milton Keynes was built quickly and it is still filling up. People arrive for a job in the retail and distribution sector, or for a house they could actually afford, and the people who would once have noticed a change in them live somewhere else entirely. The grid does the rest. Bletchley, Wavendon and Shenley Brook End are separate worlds joined by car, and an evening spent wholly indoors draws no comment at all. That is a good climate for a habit to grow in. Betting on the phone after a late finish. Cans in the fridge that go faster each month. A screen that swallows whatever is left of the night. New starts bring a certain amount of quiet loneliness with them.

Addiction counselling here treats the pain beneath the habit, not just the symptom, alcohol, drugs, gambling, food or behavioural, so recovery is something you grow into rather than force.
What actually happens in the room is the same everywhere, so it is written up once: see the full addiction counselling page for the methods, how I work for fees and session lengths, and my credentials and registration if you want to check who you would be working with.
Sessions run over a secure, encrypted video link, held to the same BACP confidentiality as meeting in person. After a free fifteen-minute call, you join from any private space on a phone, tablet or laptop.
Bradley works from Hove, so every Milton Keynes session is held online by secure video. In a place shaped entirely around the car, that spares you a drive across the grid at the end of a shift and hands the hour back. There is no reception to sit in and nobody to walk past on the way. People join from a spare room, from a parked car, or from a desk at home once the house has gone quiet.

Addiction Counselling in Milton Keynes
This is the broad service. Alcohol and drugs sit inside it, and so do gambling, gaming, shopping, pornography and the phone itself, which is one reason the local route matters here: Milton Keynes City Council's drug, alcohol and gambling support names gambling outright rather than leaving it to be inferred. Gambling is the one people conceal longest, because there is nothing to smell and nothing in the bin, only a wage that has gone by Wednesday. The alcohol-specific death rate here was 16.2 per 100,000 in 2024, above the England average of 13.8 per 100,000, even though hospital admissions run below the national picture. The work looks at the loop instead of the label: what it does for you, when it began, what it takes, and which feeling it keeps arriving in front of. The Addiction Recovery Community is the local recovery service, and Mind BLMK runs wellbeing support including a Crisis Cafe.
Not sure if it is right for you? A free fifteen-minute call is a no-obligation way to talk it through.
Book a free 15-minute callMy online counselling sits alongside the help available locally. In Milton Keynes, free local drug and alcohol support is available through Milton Keynes City Council's drug, alcohol and gambling support.
For confidential information and advice, FRANK (on 0300 123 6600) and Drinkline on 0300 123 1110 are free, and Alcoholics Anonymous and SMART Recovery run peer-support meetings you can find online.
Other local and national support verified for this area includes:
This is not a crisis service. If anyone is in immediate danger call 999. For urgent mental health support, call NHS 111 and choose the mental health option. The Samaritans are free, day or night, on 116 123, or text SHOUT to 85258.
If you drink heavily or use drugs daily, do not stop suddenly on your own. Withdrawal can cause seizures and can be dangerous. Speak to your GP or a local drug and alcohol service first, and they can arrange a safe, medically supported withdrawal. Counselling works alongside that, not instead of it.
Milton Keynes questions
Short. There is no referral and no assessment queue, so a free 15-minute consultation is usually available within a few days, and a weekly slot within a week or two after that. Council-commissioned services cost nothing but move at their own pace, which is generally a good deal slower.
No minimum, and no block to buy. Each appointment is paid for on its own: £80 / 60 min, £100 / 90 min, £120 / 120 min. The 15-minute consultation before any of that is free of charge. Most people find the hour is the right size once they have settled in.
Milton Keynes City Council's drug, alcohol and gambling support is the local statutory route, and the Addiction Recovery Community, run through CNWL, is the recovery service in the city. Mind BLMK covers wellbeing and runs a Crisis Cafe. Prescribing and medical care belong there, not here.
No. There is no room in the city and nothing to drive to, which given the grid roads is a real saving. Appointments run by secure video, or by telephone when that is steadier. A first session with the camera off is fine if speaking is easier than being looked at.
It makes it more common, not harder. Plenty of people arrive for a job or a mortgage and leave their oldest friendships behind, and a habit grows well where nobody is close enough to comment on it. One hour a week in which the whole picture gets said aloud changes that.
Not at all, and it is a very common reason people get in touch. Working online means you need no local connections or a base of your own in the city; you simply join from home. We can look together at that sense of being new and unrooted.
Usually within a week. We begin with a free 15-minute consultation, then agree a regular time. In a city built for driving, the appeal is that nothing involves the grid roads or hunting for parking; you join securely from home, whether you are in Bletchley, Wolverton or Central Milton Keynes.
Privately it is £80 for 60 minutes, £100 for 90 and £120 for 120, after a free 15-minute consultation. For free NHS help, your GP can refer you and Milton Keynes' council-funded drug and alcohol service accepts self-referrals, entirely separate from this private practice.
Yes. Because the work is online, sessions fit the evening or a working-from-home day without adding to a West Coast line commute down to Euston. That flexibility helps when loneliness creeps up in a spread-out, newer city. The room is in Hove by train if you would prefer to meet in person.
A free fifteen-minute call is the simplest place to start, no obligation, just a chance to see if we are the right fit.

There is more on this in my writing: the four-stage cycle of addiction and the four Rs framework.
For anyone near the coast, the same addiction counselling runs in person in Hove, where the room is. Every area covered is listed separately.
