Counselling for Drinking Problems · Lancing

In and around Lancing
Life in Lancing
Drinking here is usually private and unhurried. It fits into the evening after a walk by Widewater Lagoon, or in front of the television with the sea a few streets away, and nothing about it looks like trouble. Small coastal towns run on routine, and alcohol slots into a routine perfectly. What tends to shift first is not the volume but the flexibility, so the evening now has to include it and a night without becomes something you would rather not attempt. There is no incident to point at and nobody has complained. Just a growing private awareness that you think about it more than you would like to admit.

Counselling for drinking problems here looks beneath the habit at what drives it, you do not need to have hit rock bottom to begin, and signposts medical, detox and peer support where useful.
The method travels; only the geography changes. the main counselling for drinking problems page explains it properly, the practical side answers the practical questions, and how to check my registration shows how the practice is held to account.
Sessions take place in a private, comfortable room at Intergen House on Western Road in central Hove, held to the strict BACP confidentiality you would expect. We begin with a free fifteen-minute call to check we are a good fit, and the same sessions are available by secure video if travelling is difficult or you would simply prefer it.
It is twenty to twenty-five minutes into Hove along the coast road, or a short train journey, and a late-afternoon appointment can take up the hour that drinking usually claims. Sessions are on Western Road and finish when the booked time does. Where an evening out is unrealistic, or driving afterwards is not something you want, the same hour is available by secure video.

Counselling for Drinking Problems in Lancing
You are not required to want to stop, and there is no need for anything to have gone badly wrong. Most people who make contact about alcohol are working, sociable and outwardly fine, and are simply worn out by the internal negotiation. What the sessions examine is the function: marking the end of a day, filling a very quiet evening, taking the edge off a season that feels long, or softening something that has never been talked through. Alcohol-specific admissions across the county were 479.9 per 100,000 in 2023/24, below the England average of 611.7 per 100,000. If your drinking is heavy and daily, please talk to your GP before you alter anything, and use West Sussex County Council's drug and alcohol support or DAWN for that side. West Sussex Mind can help with what sits alongside.
Not sure if it is right for you? A free fifteen-minute call is a no-obligation way to talk it through.
Book a free 15-minute callMy counselling sits alongside the help available locally. In Lancing, free local drug and alcohol support is available through West Sussex County Council's drug and alcohol support.
For confidential information and advice, FRANK (on 0300 123 6600) and Drinkline on 0300 123 1110 are free, and Alcoholics Anonymous and SMART Recovery run peer-support meetings you can find online.
Other local and national support verified for this area includes:
This is not a crisis service. If anyone is in immediate danger call 999. For urgent mental health support, call NHS 111 and choose the mental health option. The Samaritans are free, day or night, on 116 123, or text SHOUT to 85258.
If you drink heavily or use drugs daily, do not stop suddenly on your own. Withdrawal can cause seizures and can be dangerous. Speak to your GP or a local drug and alcohol service first, and they can arrange a safe, medically supported withdrawal. Counselling works alongside that, not instead of it.
Lancing questions
In a private room at Intergen House on Western Road in central Hove. From Lancing it is a twenty to twenty-five minute drive east along the A259, or a short train journey, to reach Hove. Every service is also available by secure video across the UK, so you can meet from any private space in Lancing or blend the two.
Not unless you want to. Plenty of people start out wanting to drink less, or simply to understand why it has become so fixed, and decide the rest much later. The goal is yours throughout, and it is allowed to change as the work goes on.
It is not worse, only harder to gauge, because there is nobody around to give you any sense of proportion. Solitary drinking in a quiet town is one of the most common things described here, and it responds well to being looked at with someone else.
That is a medical matter and needs a doctor. Cutting back or stopping heavy daily drinking can be dangerous without proper support, so speak to your GP, or use West Sussex County Council's drug and alcohol support and DAWN. Counselling continues with everything else.
Then take the train instead, or book a video appointment for the weeks when that matters to you. Some people deliberately choose in-person sessions on days when they have no other commitments afterwards. There is no expectation that every appointment happens the same way.
After the free 15-minute consultation, sessions cost £80 / 60 min, £100 / 90 min and £120 / 120 min. How long people continue varies widely, and it gets reviewed as things progress rather than fixed in advance. Weekly at first is the usual pattern.
If it worries you, it is worth exploring, the question is what the drinking has come to do for you rather than how much it is. We look at that honestly, at your pace, with no pressure to label it.
Book a free fifteen-minute consultation on 07914 681995 or via the contact page. From Lancing the Hove room is a twenty to twenty-five minute drive on the A259, or a train through Shoreham and Portslade, then a short walk to Western Road.
Fees are £80 for an hour, £100 for ninety minutes and £120 for two hours, after a free call. In West Sussex you can self-refer to Change Grow Live for free alcohol support, and to Time to Talk, the NHS Talking Therapies service, for related low mood.
Both. The Hove room offers a private hour east along the coast, with evening slots to fit around life. When travelling feels like too much, secure video keeps support close and is just as effective, and you can blend the two as recovery settles.
A free fifteen-minute call is the simplest place to start, no obligation, just a chance to see if we are the right fit.
