What does a session actually involve?
Sessions take place in a private, comfortable room at Intergen House on Western Road in central Hove, held to the strict BACP confidentiality you would expect. We begin with a free fifteen-minute call to check we are a good fit, and the same sessions are available by secure video if travelling is difficult or you would simply prefer it.
The journey is short, ten to fifteen minutes from Hangleton into central Hove, so an appointment need not take a whole evening out of the week. You will not be asked to be clean beforehand and nothing is tested or checked at the door. Where you would rather not travel, or where the day has been difficult, secure video keeps the session going without any loss of continuity.

Turn up anyway and say so. It is far more useful than cancelling, and the session simply adapts to what you are able to do. The only thing that does not work is being too affected to hold a conversation, and we would rearrange.

There is. The NHS 'find a service' directory leads to local structured drug and alcohol treatment, which covers medical assessment and prescribing that counselling does not provide. Using it makes no difference to what happens in these sessions, and both can run at once.
What do sessions cost and how long do they last?
An hour is £80, ninety minutes £100 and two hours £120, and the first 15-minute consultation is free. Weekly hours are what most people start with, given the short run down into Hove. The longer appointments tend to suit an occasional deeper session rather than the regular weekly slot.
Will anyone locally know I am coming?
No. The room is in central Hove, away from Hangleton, with no shared waiting area, and everything is confidential. Many people also choose online sessions for complete privacy from home.
