Online Relationship Counselling · Derby

In and around Derby
Life in Derby
A shift pattern can run a marriage without anyone agreeing to it. Derby is an engineering city, and a great many couples here organise their week around a rota at Rolls-Royce, at Alstom on the old railway works, or out at Toyota at Burnaston. Nights for a fortnight, then days, then a rest week that gets eaten by everything postponed. You pass each other on the stairs. Conversations shrink to what needs collecting and who is doing it. Then a restructuring rumour goes round and the money worry arrives on top. Households in Chaddesden, Spondon and Sinfin describe the same quiet erosion, and by the time anyone names it the distance has been growing for years.

Relationship counselling here, for couples or individuals, slows down the pattern you are caught in and builds healthier ways of hearing and being heard.
Because the work itself is the same wherever you live, the detail sits in one place rather than all of them: the main relationship counselling page sets out the methods, how I work covers the practicalities, and professional standards and registration covers accountability.
Sessions run over a secure, encrypted video link, held to the same BACP confidentiality as meeting in person. After a free fifteen-minute call, you join from any private space on a phone, tablet or laptop.
Bradley works from Hove, so there is no room in Derby and everything happens by secure video. For rota couples that is the point rather than a compromise: a slot can be booked into a nights week or a days week, and moved when the pattern rotates, instead of being lost. Sit together at one screen or dial in from two rooms. One of you can come alone and start the work without the other agreeing to anything.

Relationship Counselling in Derby
Very few couples ring after a single event. They ring because the same disagreement has been recycling for two years, or because one of them has been drinking through the small hours after nights and the other has run out of ways to raise it, or because affection quietly went and neither can say when. Strain in this city is measurable. In Derby, 29.3% of adults reported a high anxiety score in 2022/23, above the England average of 23.8%, and that pressure does not stay at the factory gate. The work is unhurried and it deals in specifics. We slow one recurring exchange right down, find the request hidden inside the complaint, and look honestly at where trust broke and what rebuilding it would actually involve. Derby and Derbyshire Talking Therapies takes self-referrals, and the Derby Drug and Alcohol Recovery Service is the route when drink has become the third party.
Not sure if it is right for you? A free fifteen-minute call is a no-obligation way to talk it through.

Private sessions with me usually mean you can start sooner and stay with the same counsellor throughout; I am glad to work alongside any NHS or GP support you already have.

Derby questions
Yes, and this is one of the situations online suits best. We can set a slot for a days week and a different one for a nights week, and change them as the pattern rotates rather than cancelling. Bring the rota to the free 15-minute call and we will map it out then.
There is not. The appointment carries the fee, not the number of chairs: £80 for sixty minutes, £100 for ninety, £120 for two hours. Couples generally want ninety so neither of you is rushed. The 15-minute conversation that comes first costs nothing and commits you to nothing.
Derby and Derbyshire Talking Therapies is the NHS Talking Therapies service here and takes self-referrals without a GP. Its focus is anxiety and depression rather than the couple, so it may suit one of you individually. Waits vary by area, and using it alongside private work is common.
Late morning after a night shift is workable for some people and useless for others. There is no virtue in sitting through an hour you cannot follow. We would rather find a slot on a rest day, or early in a days week, when you can actually take part in it.
There is. Coming alone lets you look at what living with it has cost you, and what you will and will not carry, which often shifts the situation more than another confrontation would. The Derby Drug and Alcohol Recovery Service is there for your partner whenever they are ready.
Yes. Because everything is online, appointment times can often be arranged outside standard office hours, which helps when one partner works rotas at Rolls-Royce, Toyota or elsewhere. You join together from home, so there is no travel to add on top of an already awkward pattern.
Online relationship counselling for Derby couples has no waiting list. We open with a free 15-minute consultation, and once a weekly time suits you both, sessions can start soon after. Whether home is in Littleover, Mickleover or Chaddesden, the whole thing is arranged by video.
Derby couples can self-refer free to NHS Talking Therapies, though waits are common. Private sessions with me are £80 for 60 minutes, 100 for 90 and 120 for two hours, after a free 15-minute consultation. Many choose private work to be seen sooner.
Partners can join from separate places. One might log in from home while the other connects from a shift at Rolls-Royce or Toyota at Burnaston, and evening appointments outside the nine-to-five are often available, which helps around the city's engineering rotas.
A free fifteen-minute call is the simplest place to start, no obligation, just a chance to see if we are the right fit.
