In and around Crewe
Life in Crewe
A lot of people in Crewe come to counselling with no story to tell. Nothing dramatic has occurred. You get up, you do the shift, you come home, and something has gone out of it. Leighton Hospital covers what is medically urgent, and there is no obvious place for the rest. The town's engineering heritage runs deep, and with it a habit of judging yourself by whether you are still turning up and doing the job. By that measure you are fine, which makes the flatness harder to justify to yourself. People often ring after months of telling themselves it will lift when the rota changes, and it has not.

Counselling and therapy here is one steady starting point for whatever you are carrying, anxiety, low mood, addiction, relationships or the past, integrative and led by you, so we begin with what matters most and shape the work around you.
Because the work itself is the same wherever you live, the detail sits in one place rather than all of them: the main counselling and therapy page sets out the methods, the practical side covers the practicalities, and qualifications, registration and ethics covers accountability.
Sessions run over a secure, encrypted video link, held to the same BACP confidentiality as meeting in person. After a free fifteen-minute call, you join from any private space on a phone, tablet or laptop.
Everything is online from Hove, by video or phone, which lowers the cost of finding out whether counselling helps. No referral, no waiting room, nothing to arrange with work. You can take a first session in your own front room, or from the car park before a shift, and decide afterwards. There is no minimum number of sessions and no commitment beyond the one you have booked. Phone calls work as well as video if you would rather not be on camera.

Counselling and Therapy in Crewe
This is the entry point for people who cannot yet say what the matter is. It requires no diagnosis and no history, and it stays with what is happening now: sleep, temper, the loss of interest in things that used to matter, the Sunday-night feeling that arrives on a Thursday. The work is short to medium term, often six to twelve sessions, and we review rather than assume. Low mood is recorded here more than nationally, with depression on GP registers at 16.6% of patients aged 18 and over in 2024/25 against an England average of 14.3%, and a register only counts the people who went and said something. In England the NHS Talking Therapies finder takes self-referrals free of charge, and My Mind is the local NHS service worth knowing about.
Not sure if it is right for you? A free fifteen-minute call is a no-obligation way to talk it through.
Book a free 15-minute callMy online counselling sits alongside the help available locally. In Crewe, you can refer yourself directly to NHS talking therapies for anxiety and depression, with no GP referral needed. You can find support through the NHS Talking Therapies finder.
Private sessions with me usually mean you can start sooner and stay with the same counsellor throughout; I am glad to work alongside any NHS or GP support you already have.

Crewe questions
You talk and I listen and ask questions. There is no couch, no technique done to you and no homework unless you want some. The first session is about working out what is going on. Most people find it far more ordinary than they had feared.
An hour is £80 and 90 minutes is £100, paid one session at a time with nothing in advance. Before any of that there is a free 15-minute consultation. If money is a factor, say so and we will look at spacing rather than you not starting.
You can do both. The NHS Talking Therapies finder takes self-referrals in England, costs nothing and is worth putting in motion whatever else you do. Waits vary. Starting privately in the meantime is common, and there is no penalty for stopping either.
Very much so. Flatness, boredom with things you used to enjoy and a sense of going through the motions are among the most frequent reasons people get in touch. Distress does not have to be loud or tearful before it is worth an hour of attention.
Many people feel some relief after the first, simply from saying it out loud, though that is not the same as the problem shifting. A more honest answer is three or four sessions before you can judge whether this is working for you.
Yes. Because we meet online, we can use quieter daytime slots or evenings depending on your rota, without a journey on top. Shift patterns make regular appointments hard, so we'd aim for a steady time where possible and adjust around changing shifts when we need to.
Generally within a week or so. Being online from Hove means no local waiting list, so after a free fifteen-minute call I can usually offer a first session soon after. Wherever you are, from Haslington to Willaston, we meet by secure video or phone.
The standard sixty-minute session is £80, with ninety minutes at £100 and two hours at £120. NHS Talking Therapies is free but can involve a wait, so some people begin privately with me meanwhile. Your first fifteen-minute consultation costs nothing.
Yes. For anyone on the railway, at Bentley or working other shifts, meeting online is far easier to fit in than a fixed clinic slot. We would find a regular time that works around your rota and keep it as steady as we can, so support stays there week to week.
A free fifteen-minute call is the simplest place to start, no obligation, just a chance to see if we are the right fit.
