Online Addiction Counselling · Hastings
Online addiction counselling for Hastings, by secure video. From a base in Hove I work with people across Hastings, from the Old Town and the Stade to the streets around the fishing beach, with the same BACP-registered, confidential support as an in-person session, and no journey.

In and around Hastings
Life in Hastings
Hastings is a town of sharp contrasts, and both sides of it turn up on the same street. There is the Old Town and the fishing fleet on the Stade, there is the creative and arts community and Hastings Contemporary gallery, and there is some of the hardest deprivation on this coast, often a few minutes' walk apart. Work is seasonal and insecure for a great many people, and the winters are long once the visitors stop coming. A habit finds plenty of space in that. In Ore or Hollington, an afternoon with nothing in it and a phone in your hand is all a betting app has ever required.
Areas covered
Wherever you are in Hastings, the work is the same, a calm, confidential space shaped around you.

Addiction counselling here treats the pain beneath the habit, not just the symptom, alcohol, drugs, gambling, food or behavioural, so recovery is something you grow into rather than force.
What actually happens in the room is the same everywhere, so it is written up once: see the main addiction counselling page for the methods, how I work for fees and session lengths, and my credentials and registration if you want to check who you would be working with.
Sessions run over a secure, encrypted video link, held to the same BACP confidentiality as meeting in person. After a free fifteen-minute call, you join from any private space on a phone, tablet or laptop.
Hastings is seen online. Bradley works from Hove and keeps nowhere along this coast, which removes a journey that is genuinely awkward from here and removes the visibility along with it. Sessions run an hour at a time by secure video from home, from a car, or from anywhere with a door and an hour to spare. Nothing is posted to your address. In a town where good support is not always easy to reach, that immediacy counts.

Addiction Counselling in Hastings
This is the broadest of the three services, and gambling belongs in it as squarely as drink does. Where money is tight and irregular, a betting app promises to solve the one problem that will not otherwise be solved, and it takes the rent while promising it. Gaming, spending and pornography follow the same shape. Sessions look at what the habit does for you, when it started, and what would have to happen for the day to work without it, rather than at how it is categorised. Nobody is lectured here. East Sussex County Council's drug and alcohol support is the statutory route for anything medical or prescribed, delivered by Change Grow Live through the STAR service, whose hub for this town is at Thrift House. Locally 24.1% of adults reported a high anxiety score in 2022/23, above the England average of 23.8%.
Not sure if it is right for you? A free fifteen-minute call is a no-obligation way to talk it through.
Book a free 15-minute callMy online counselling sits alongside the help available locally. In Hastings, free local drug and alcohol support is available through East Sussex County Council's drug and alcohol support (STAR, Change Grow Live).
For confidential information and advice, FRANK (on 0300 123 6600) and Drinkline on 0300 123 1110 are free, and Alcoholics Anonymous and SMART Recovery run peer-support meetings you can find online.
Other local and national support verified for this area includes:
This is not a crisis service. If anyone is in immediate danger call 999. For urgent mental health support, call NHS 111 and choose the mental health option. The Samaritans are free, day or night, on 116 123, or text SHOUT to 85258.
If you drink heavily or use drugs daily, do not stop suddenly on your own. Withdrawal can cause seizures and can be dangerous. Speak to your GP or a local drug and alcohol service first, and they can arrange a safe, medically supported withdrawal. Counselling works alongside that, not instead of it.
Hastings questions
With the free 15-minute consultation, which is a conversation rather than an intake process. Previous attempts elsewhere are useful information rather than a mark against you. If you want to go on, weekly sessions usually begin within a fortnight, with no referral and no list to join.
Sessions are paid one at a time, at £80 an hour, £100 for 90 minutes and £120 for two hours, so nothing is owed during the weeks you do not come. Spacing sessions out through a lean month is common and better than stopping. The 15-minute call is free.
It is how Change Grow Live delivers East Sussex County Council's drug and alcohol support in this town, free of charge, covering prescribing, structured treatment and harm reduction. Counselling is a separate and private thing that looks at the reasons underneath. Using both together is normal and often sensible.
For most people yes, and some find it easier, because home feels safer than an unfamiliar building. You see the same counsellor every week, the hour is the same hour, and the only real difference is the absence of a journey at either end of it.
You can, though starting before the season turns tends to work better than starting once it has. A habit that ramps up every autumn is a pattern, and patterns are easier to work with while you can still see them from outside. Sessions can pause and resume.
It can be, yes. Without travel costs or time lost to a journey, sessions are simpler to fit around insecure or seasonal work. We can also talk openly about money worries and the strain of the quiet months, which are a real part of life for many in Hastings.
Usually within a week. After a free 15-minute consultation we set a regular time. Hastings sits at the end of its rail lines, where travelling to appointments elsewhere can eat up a day, so online matters: you join securely from home in the Old Town, St Leonards, Ore or Silverhill.
Privately, £80 for 60 minutes, £100 for 90 and £120 for 120, after a free 15-minute consultation. Good local support can feel stretched, so it is worth knowing your GP can refer you and East Sussex's council-funded drug and alcohol service accepts self-referrals for free.
Most people here work online, which spares a long trip up the line or along the coast, and sessions flex around insecure, seasonal hours, evenings included. Hove lies further west along the same shore, so an in-person meeting is a genuine option if you would ever prefer to meet face to face.
A free fifteen-minute call is the simplest place to start, no obligation, just a chance to see if we are the right fit.

Close to this in Hastings, there is substance use counselling, counselling for drinking problems and trauma counselling.
