Online Addiction Counselling · Coventry
Online addiction counselling for Coventry, by secure video. From a base in Hove I work with people across Coventry, from the city centre and the two cathedrals to the streets around the cathedral ruins, with the same BACP-registered, confidential support as an in-person session, and no journey.

In and around Coventry
Life in Coventry
Coventry has rebuilt itself more than once, and the city carries a certain matter-of-factness about change. That does not make private trouble any easier to admit to. A shift pattern in the automotive supply chain around Jaguar Land Rover, a term of coursework at Coventry University, a long run of quiet evenings in Radford or Coundon; a habit slots into any of those without announcing itself. Alcohol-related admissions here reached 704.5 per 100,000 in 2023/24, a long way above the England average of 504.1 per 100,000. Behind a rate like that sit betting apps opened in a car park at three in the morning and bottles counted into the recycling before anyone else is up.

Addiction counselling here treats the pain beneath the habit, not just the symptom, alcohol, drugs, gambling, food or behavioural, so recovery is something you grow into rather than force.
Rather than say the same thing on every page, the substance lives on the full addiction counselling page, with session lengths and fees for the practical questions and how to check my registration for registration and ethics.
Sessions run over a secure, encrypted video link, held to the same BACP confidentiality as meeting in person. After a free fifteen-minute call, you join from any private space on a phone, tablet or laptop.
Coventry is covered by video from Hove; there is no room in the city, and for this particular conversation that is rarely a loss. Nothing about your week has to be rearranged around the ring road or a bus in from Tile Hill. Nobody in Earlsdon watches which building you walked into. An hour in a back bedroom, or in a car with the engine off, is enough to get real work done.

Addiction Counselling in Coventry
Addiction covers more territory than the word tends to suggest. Drink and drugs are the obvious half; gambling, gaming, spending and pornography run an identical circuit, and in a city with this many students the online versions are the ones that go unnoticed longest. The job is to take that circuit apart. What it delivers reliably, what it quietly removes, when it first earned its place, and what would have to change for it to matter less. Deaths from drug misuse in Coventry sat at 8.7 per 100,000 across 2022 to 2024, above the England average of 5.8 per 100,000. Statutory support belongs in this picture too. Coventry City Council's alcohol and drugs support is the doorway into local provision, Change Grow Live Coventry delivers the drug and alcohol service itself, and Coventry, Warwickshire and Worcestershire Mind covers wider mental health across the same area.
Not sure if it is right for you? A free fifteen-minute call is a no-obligation way to talk it through.
Book a free 15-minute callMy online counselling sits alongside the help available locally. In Coventry, free local drug and alcohol support is available through Coventry City Council's alcohol and drugs support.
For confidential information and advice, FRANK (on 0300 123 6600) and Drinkline on 0300 123 1110 are free, and Alcoholics Anonymous and SMART Recovery run peer-support meetings you can find online.
Other local and national support verified for this area includes:
This is not a crisis service. If anyone is in immediate danger call 999. For urgent mental health support, call NHS 111 and choose the mental health option. The Samaritans are free, day or night, on 116 123, or text SHOUT to 85258.
If you drink heavily or use drugs daily, do not stop suddenly on your own. Withdrawal can cause seizures and can be dangerous. Speak to your GP or a local drug and alcohol service first, and they can arrange a safe, medically supported withdrawal. Counselling works alongside that, not instead of it.
Coventry questions
The first conversation is a free 15-minute call and it costs you nothing but the time. You describe as much as you want to and no more. If weekly sessions look like the right idea, they generally start within a week or two, with no referral and no queue.
Sixty minutes is £80 / 60 min. Ninety minutes is £100 / 90 min, two hours is £120 / 120 min, and the hour is what almost everybody settles into. The introductory 15-minute consultation costs nothing, so no money is spent before you know how the work actually runs.
That is the local route into structured treatment, and it connects you with Change Grow Live Coventry for prescribing, groups and supervised care. Counselling does not replace any of that. A lot of people run both together, using the statutory side for treatment and this hour for the reasons underneath.
It counts for you, if anything. Repeated attempts mean you already hold real information about what does and does not hold up. We use that rather than starting from nothing, looking at where each attempt came apart and what was missing at exactly that point.
Here is a reasonable place. Betting sits in the same pocket as everything else you carry, which is what makes it so hard to leave alone, and student money makes losses bite quickly. We look at what the stake is doing for you and at the blocks worth putting in place.
Yes. Online sessions suit student life well, since you can meet from your room or a quiet corner without travelling, and times can often be arranged around lectures and deadlines. Whether you are at Coventry or Warwick, you need only a private space and a connection.
Quite soon. Coventry is served online from the Hove consulting room, so there is no local waiting list. We begin with a free 15-minute consultation, and a first full session can usually be arranged within the same week, whether you are a student or working across the city.
Sessions cost £80 for 60 minutes, £100 for 90 and £120 for two hours, after a free 15-minute consultation. NHS addiction support in Coventry is free through your GP or community teams but can mean waiting, while private counselling starts sooner and around your own timetable.
The room is in Hove, so Coventry is served online rather than face to face, sparing you a trip from Earlsdon or Tile Hill into the centre. Because it is by video, evening sessions can often be arranged, which suits students at the two universities and people on shifts.
A free fifteen-minute call is the simplest place to start, no obligation, just a chance to see if we are the right fit.
Also available online across Midlands: Birmingham, Leicester, Solihull. See all of Midlands.
Also available in Coventry: substance use counselling, counselling for drinking problems and trauma counselling.
Some further reading, if that helps before getting in touch: a cognitive-restructuring exercise for compulsive behaviour and the four-stage cycle of addiction.
For anyone near the coast, the same addiction counselling runs in person in Hove, where the room is. Every area covered is listed separately.
