In and around Worthing
Life in Worthing
Worthing is big enough to be anonymous and small enough to run into people. Montague Street fills up in the day, the pier and Steyne Gardens carry the seafront, and out through Broadwater, Tarring, Durrington and Goring the town turns residential and settles down. That mixture matters for a habit. There is plenty going on, and there is also a great deal of ordinary domestic evening in which nothing is observed. Betting on a phone, gaming that has taken over the night, shopping that arrives daily, a bottle that has become routine. In a town this size, everyone assumes somebody else would have noticed, so nobody does.

Addiction counselling here treats the pain beneath the habit, not just the symptom, alcohol, drugs, gambling, food or behavioural, so recovery is something you grow into rather than force.
What actually happens in the room is the same everywhere, so it is written up once: see the main addiction counselling page for the methods, the practical side for fees and session lengths, and my BACP registration if you want to check who you would be working with.
Sessions take place in a private, comfortable room at Intergen House on Western Road in central Hove, held to the strict BACP confidentiality you would expect. We begin with a free fifteen-minute call to check we are a good fit, and the same sessions are available by secure video if travelling is difficult or you would simply prefer it.
The Hove office is twenty-five to thirty minutes east by car along the A259, or a direct train, with sessions in a private room. That is a real journey rather than a short hop, and for some people the separation is worth it. For others, weekly secure video is the sensible default with the occasional visit in person. Neither is treated as the lesser option.

Addiction Counselling in Worthing
This service is deliberately broad, taking in gambling, gaming, shopping and pornography alongside drink and drugs. Behavioural habits go unnamed longest, because nothing is left lying about for anyone to find. The work looks at the loop itself: what it delivers, when it runs, and what it now takes in money, sleep and straightforwardness at home. None of that conversation involves being judged, and nothing has to be given up before you start. For context, hospital admissions for alcohol-related conditions across West Sussex were 440.2 per 100,000 in 2023/24, below the England average of 504.1. Free statutory help comes through West Sussex County Council's drug and alcohol support and DAWN, the West Sussex drug and alcohol wellbeing network run by Change Grow Live, with West Sussex Mind keeping its head office here and the Sussex Mental Healthline overnight.
Not sure if it is right for you? A free fifteen-minute call is a no-obligation way to talk it through.
Book a free 15-minute callMy counselling sits alongside the help available locally. In Worthing, free local drug and alcohol support is available through West Sussex County Council's drug and alcohol support.
For confidential information and advice, FRANK (on 0300 123 6600) and Drinkline on 0300 123 1110 are free, and Alcoholics Anonymous and SMART Recovery run peer-support meetings you can find online.
Other local and national support verified for this area includes:
This is not a crisis service. If anyone is in immediate danger call 999. For urgent mental health support, call NHS 111 and choose the mental health option. The Samaritans are free, day or night, on 116 123, or text SHOUT to 85258.
If you drink heavily or use drugs daily, do not stop suddenly on your own. Withdrawal can cause seizures and can be dangerous. Speak to your GP or a local drug and alcohol service first, and they can arrange a safe, medically supported withdrawal. Counselling works alongside that, not instead of it.
Worthing questions
In a private room at Intergen House on Western Road in central Hove. From Worthing the office is around twenty-five to thirty minutes east by car along the A259, or a direct train to Hove. Every service is also available by secure video across the UK, so you can meet from any private space in Worthing or blend the two.
A direct service makes it manageable, at roughly the same time as driving the A259 without the parking. Even so, half an hour each way is a genuine commitment, so many people here hold weekly sessions on video and come in person occasionally.
£80 for an hour, £100 for 90 minutes, £120 for two hours. Payment is per session rather than in blocks, so stopping is straightforward. The first 15-minute consultation is free and takes place by phone, so it costs you no travelling either.
West Sussex County Council's drug and alcohol support is the county route and DAWN, delivered by Change Grow Live, is the local free network. West Sussex Mind, which has its head office in the town, covers mental health more widely. All three can run alongside private counselling.
The room is in Hove, well outside the town, which is one reason people here choose it. Nothing on the building indicates what happens inside and nothing is entered on your medical record. Video sessions remove the question of being seen altogether.
It works on why the betting keeps happening, which debt advice cannot reach. Money problems usually need practical help as well, and the two run in parallel. The first useful move is describing the whole picture to someone once, without editing the amounts down.
Around twenty-five to thirty minutes east by car along the A259, or a direct train to Hove. Online sessions are also available and save the journey.
It is around twenty-five to thirty minutes east by car along the A259, or a direct train from Worthing or West Worthing on the main coastal line to Hove in about twenty minutes, then a short walk to Western Road. Book a free fifteen-minute consultation first on 07914 681995.
Sessions are £80 for sixty minutes, £100 for ninety and £120 for two hours, with a free first call. Worthing is in West Sussex, so for free help you can self-refer to Change Grow Live West Sussex, the drug and alcohol service, without a GP.
Yes. The direct train to Hove makes coming in easy, with evening slots available, but secure video is there if you would rather not travel. Behind a busy seaside town, many Worthing clients value a discreet space, in person or from home.
A free fifteen-minute call is the simplest place to start, no obligation, just a chance to see if we are the right fit.
