Online Substance Use Counselling · Rochdale
Online substance use counselling for Rochdale, by secure video. From a base in Hove I work with people across Rochdale, from the town centre and the town hall to the streets around the Co-operative heritage, with the same BACP-registered, confidential support as an in-person session, and no journey.

In and around Rochdale
Life in Rochdale
Drug use in Rochdale is largely indoors and largely unremarked. Cannabis that began as a way to switch off after a shift. Cocaine that arrived at weekends and settled into the week. Something to help sleep when the mill-town hours of the past have been replaced by warehouse ones. In Littleborough, Milnrow or the town centre this happens behind closed doors, held by people whose neighbours have no idea. The borough's drug-death rate is below the national one, which is genuinely good news and no help whatsoever if you are the person losing hours, money and sleep to something nobody knows about.

Substance use counselling here is non-judgemental and one-to-one, working with the pain, fear or loneliness the substance has been managing, at a pace that protects your sense of safety.
Because the work itself is the same wherever you live, the detail sits in one place rather than all of them: the full substance use counselling page sets out the methods, how sessions run and what they cost covers the practicalities, and professional standards and registration covers accountability.
Sessions run over a secure, encrypted video link, held to the same BACP confidentiality as meeting in person. After a free fifteen-minute call, you join from any private space on a phone, tablet or laptop.
There is no room in Rochdale; Bradley works from Hove and the sessions run online. For drug use that solves the practical objection immediately, because there is nowhere local to be seen going and nothing on a local list with your name on it. You can talk about what you actually take rather than a tidied version. An hour, a signal and somewhere private is the entire requirement, and a parked car counts.

Substance Use Counselling in Rochdale
This is drug-focused work and nothing about it depends on you having stopped. Rochdale's rate of deaths from drug misuse was 4.4 per 100,000 in 2022 - 24, below the England average of 5.8 per 100,000, while 7 adults per 1,000 were in treatment at specialist drug-misuse services in 2020/21, well above the England average of 4.5 per 1,000. Plenty of people here are already getting help, and plenty more are managing alone. The counselling is for either. It looks at what the substance does, what the following day looks like, and what would need to exist before you could do without it. Rochdale Borough Council's drug and alcohol help and Turning Point's ROAR are the routes to medical support whenever you want them. Nothing said in the hour goes anywhere near them without your say-so.
Not sure if it is right for you? A free fifteen-minute call is a no-obligation way to talk it through.

This is not a crisis service. If anyone is in immediate danger call 999. For urgent mental health support, call NHS 111 and choose the mental health option. The Samaritans are free, day or night, on 116 123, or text SHOUT to 85258.
If you drink heavily or use drugs daily, do not stop suddenly on your own. Withdrawal can cause seizures and can be dangerous. Speak to your GP or a local drug and alcohol service first, and they can arrange a safe, medically supported withdrawal. Counselling works alongside that, not instead of it.
Rochdale questions
No, and most people have not. If stopping were a requirement, the only people who could get through the door would be the ones who no longer need much help. Come as things are, describe them honestly, and the work starts from there rather than from a fiction.
You would be assessed and offered whatever fits, which can mean prescribing, structured treatment or group work. Rochdale Borough Council's drug and alcohol help explains how to make contact. It is confidential health care and separate from anything to do with police or benefits. Counselling can continue throughout.
£80 / 60 min, £100 / 90 min or £120 / 120 min, after a free 15-minute consultation. Nothing is charged in advance and nothing is bundled. If a week is difficult financially, the session can be moved rather than lost, and there is no penalty for a gap.
Move the hour rather than the household. A car parked somewhere unremarkable is the most common answer, and a walk with headphones works if sitting still is difficult. Booking a slot while the house is at work or school solves it outright when the shifts allow.
Not at all, and it is worth saying so plainly rather than guessing. What matters more than the chemistry is the pattern: how often, in what circumstances, and what happens afterwards. If there are safety questions about what is circulating, the local service is better placed to answer them than counselling is.
Yes. What you share stays between us. As an independent counsellor, I don't pass information to your GP, employer or anyone else unless there's a serious risk to safety, which we'd discuss first. That confidentiality is the foundation of the work, wherever you are in Rochdale.
Quickly. After a free 15-minute consultation to check we suit each other, we would usually hold your first session within a week. It runs online from my Hove base, so whether you are in Heywood, Milnrow, Norden or Bamford, there is nothing to travel to.
Rochdale's NHS drug and alcohol services are free, though they can carry a wait. My fees are fixed and clear: a free 15-minute consultation, then £80 for an hour, £100 for 90 minutes and £120 for two hours.
Yes. I only work online, so there is no Rochdale office to reach; my room is in Hove. Evening or lunchtime sessions are straightforward to arrange, which many people find fits work and family better than a fixed daytime clinic appointment.
A free fifteen-minute call is the simplest place to start, no obligation, just a chance to see if we are the right fit.
