Llanelli is, above all, a rugby town: the scarlet of Llanelli RFC and now the Scarlets, the anthem Sospan Fach, and the memory of the day in 1972 when the town beat the touring All Blacks. Along the Loughor estuary the Millennium Coastal Path and the wetland centre have opened the shoreline back up, while districts such as Felinfoel, Bynea and Llwynhendy spread inland from the old centre.
