Online Substance Use Counselling · Llanelli
Online substance use counselling for Llanelli, by secure video. From a base in Hove I work with people across Llanelli, from the town centre and the Millennium Coastal Path to the streets around the rugby heritage, with the same BACP-registered, confidential support as an in-person session, and no journey.

In and around Llanelli
Life in Llanelli
Drug use in Llanelli does not announce itself. It sits in terraced streets around Furnace and Morfa, in houses where somebody works shifts and somebody else is looking for work, and in the flats where a young person has ended up on their own. Across the county the drug-misuse death rate for 2022 to 2024 was above the Wales average, and the arithmetic behind that is mostly invisible from the coastal path on a bright morning. What people describe when they finally talk is not the dramatic version at all. It is something that started as manageable, became routine, and then became the thing the day is organised around without a decision ever being made.

Official figures for Llanelli, for context rather than as a description of you.
In Carmarthenshire (the council area covering Llanelli) the age-standardised drug-misuse death rate was 10.0 per 100,000 in 2022 to 2024, above the Wales average of 8.5 per 100,000. In Carmarthenshire, the council area covering Llanelli, 9.7% of adults reported a low life satisfaction score (4 or below out of 10) in the year ending March 2023, compared with a Wales average of 6.9%, a difference the survey's margin of error does not confirm. Substance use counselling here is non-judgemental and one-to-one, working with the pain, fear or loneliness the substance has been managing, at a pace that protects your sense of safety.
The approach does not change with the postcode, so rather than repeat it on every page you can read it in full, the methods and what each session covers, on the main substance use counselling page, alongside how I work, sessions and fees and my BACP registration.
Sessions run over a secure, encrypted video link, held to the same BACP confidentiality as meeting in person. After a free fifteen-minute call, you join from any private space on a phone, tablet or laptop.
There is no address in Llanelli to attend, because Bradley works from Hove and all of this happens by secure video. For drug work that is often an advantage rather than a compromise. Nobody sees you arrive, there is nothing to explain to a receptionist, and a bad day does not have to be spent travelling. Weekly sessions run at a set time, with the telephone as a backup when the connection is unreliable.

Substance Use Counselling in Llanelli
Nobody is asked to be clean before they can be seen. That single condition keeps enormous numbers of people away from help for years, and it is not applied here. You can be using daily and still get something real out of sitting down with somebody who is not going to flinch. The conversation starts with what the substance does for you, because it is doing something, and the reason it has been so hard to shift is usually hidden inside that answer. Pain, sleeplessness, grief, a mind that will not stop, work that has gone. Everything medical is somebody else's responsibility and should stay that way: DDAS on 0330 363 9997 for local drug and alcohol treatment, the Hywel Dda community drug and alcohol team, and the NHS find a service directory. DAN 24/7 is on 0808 808 2234 at any hour.
Not sure if it is right for you? A free fifteen-minute call is a no-obligation way to talk it through.
Book a free 15-minute callMy online counselling sits alongside the help available locally. In Llanelli, your GP can refer you to local drug and alcohol services, and you can find support through DAN 24/7, the Wales Drug and Alcohol Helpline.
For confidential information and advice, FRANK (on 0300 123 6600) and Drinkline on 0300 123 1110 are free, and Alcoholics Anonymous and SMART Recovery run peer-support meetings you can find online.
Other local and national support verified for this area includes:
This is not a crisis service. If anyone is in immediate danger call 999. For urgent mental health support, call NHS 111 and press 2 for urgent mental health support. The CALL Helpline for Wales is free on 0800 132 737, the Samaritans are on 116 123, and you can text SHOUT to 85258.
If you drink heavily or use drugs daily, do not stop suddenly on your own. Withdrawal can cause seizures and can be dangerous. Speak to your GP or a local drug and alcohol service first, and they can arrange a safe, medically supported withdrawal. Counselling works alongside that, not instead of it.
Llanelli questions
Then we begin exactly there. Readiness is not a ticket you have to produce at the door. A good deal of useful work happens while somebody is still using, and it tends to be what makes any later decision stick, because it was genuinely yours.
Each hour is £80, with 90-minute sessions at £100 and two-hour ones at £120. Ahead of all that sits a free 15-minute consultation. If money is tight, some people book fortnightly rather than weekly, which we can talk about openly.
DDAS, the Dyfed drug and alcohol service, has an office on Vaughan Street in Llanelli and a single contact number, 0330 363 9997. There is also the Hywel Dda community drug and alcohol team. The NHS find a service directory covers everything else available near you.
It can, and a lot of people combine the two. The prescribing side stays entirely with your prescriber, including any change to a dose. What we do is work on the reasons, the patterns and the life around it, which prescriptions on their own cannot reach.
It is. Private counselling creates no NHS record and nothing is written to your GP unless you ask me to. I keep short confidential notes of my own, held under the BACP Ethical Framework, and I will explain the narrow circumstances where confidentiality has limits.
No. My practice is in Hove, and I work with people across Carmarthenshire and the whole of Wales by secure video rather than in person. Every session is held online wherever you are, which spares the drive towards Swansea or Carmarthen.
Often the same week. Once you have had your free 15-minute consultation, we arrange your first session. Because everything is by secure video, being out in west Wales rather than near a city service makes no difference to how soon we can begin.
NHS drug services through Hywel Dda health board are free, and Dan 24/7 gives free all-Wales advice, though demand is high. Privately I charge £80 an hour, £100 for 90 minutes and £120 for two hours, after a free 15-minute consultation.
You join by secure video from a private space at home, whether in Bigyn, Seaside or Furnace, needing only a steady connection. I keep some evening appointments, so the drive over towards Swansea or Carmarthen for specialist help is no longer part of it.
A free fifteen-minute call is the simplest place to start, no obligation, just a chance to see if we are the right fit.
Also available online across Wales: Swansea, Neath. See all of Wales.
People who come for substance use counselling in Llanelli often also look at addiction counselling, counselling for drinking problems and anxiety counselling.
There is more on this in my writing: three ways to handle a craving and calming a craving as it rises.
For anyone near the coast, the same substance use counselling runs in person in Hove, where the room is. Every area covered is listed separately.
