Online Addiction Counselling · Hull
Online addiction counselling for Hull, by secure video. From a base in Hove I work with people across Hull, from the Old Town and the marina to the streets around the Deep, with the same BACP-registered, confidential support as an in-person session, and no journey.

In and around Hull
Life in Hull
Hull sits at the end of the line, and that geography quietly shapes how a habit settles in. Work tied to the port and offshore wind sector runs on rotas rather than office hours, so the drink or the bet that fills a long evening off can go unremarked for years. Along Newland Avenue and Princes Avenue the trade around the University of Hull keeps late hours; out at Bransholme and Marfleet the pull is quieter, a lit phone screen once the house has gone to bed. Addiction here is seldom only about what you swallow. Betting apps, gaming, shopping and pornography run the same loop of anticipation and relief, and they leave behind the same flavour of shame.

Wherever you are in Hull, the work is the same, a calm, confidential space shaped around you.

Addiction counselling here treats the pain beneath the habit, not just the symptom, alcohol, drugs, gambling, food or behavioural, so recovery is something you grow into rather than force.
The method travels; only the geography changes. the addiction counselling page explains it properly, the practical side answers the practical questions, and how to check my registration shows how the practice is held to account.
Sessions run over a secure, encrypted video link, held to the same BACP confidentiality as meeting in person. After a free fifteen-minute call, you join from any private space on a phone, tablet or laptop.
Everything happens online by secure video, wherever you are. Bradley works from Hove, so there is no room in Hull and no reception where somebody might place your face. That helps where rotas rarely line up with a nine-to-five diary: a slot can sit before a shift or after the school run. If the house on Spring Bank or Anlaby Road is never empty, headphones and a door that shuts are usually enough. It starts with a free 15-minute consultation and no obligation after it.

Addiction Counselling in Hull
Nearly everyone who gets in touch has already tried to stop alone, more than once, and reads those attempts as evidence of a weak character rather than as the ordinary shape of a compulsion. We start somewhere less punishing: what the drinking, the betting or the scrolling is genuinely doing for you in the moment you reach for it. Blunting money worry. Filling the hole left by a contract that ended. Making a long stretch of nothing bearable. That is not an excuse; it is the information the work needs. Hull City Council's drug and alcohol support is the way into free local treatment, and ReNew Hull, delivered by Change Grow Live, offers confidential help with drugs and alcohol at no charge. Hull and East Yorkshire Mind covers wider mental health need. Counselling runs beside those services rather than instead of them, and if you drink or use daily, speak to your GP before altering anything.
Not sure if it is right for you? A free fifteen-minute call is a no-obligation way to talk it through.
Book a free 15-minute callMy online counselling sits alongside the help available locally. In Hull, free local drug and alcohol support is available through Hull City Council's drug and alcohol support.
For confidential information and advice, FRANK (on 0300 123 6600) and Drinkline on 0300 123 1110 are free, and Alcoholics Anonymous and SMART Recovery run peer-support meetings you can find online.
Other local and national support verified for this area includes:
This is not a crisis service. If anyone is in immediate danger call 999. For urgent mental health support, call NHS 111 and choose the mental health option. The Samaritans are free, day or night, on 116 123, or text SHOUT to 85258.
If you drink heavily or use drugs daily, do not stop suddenly on your own. Withdrawal can cause seizures and can be dangerous. Speak to your GP or a local drug and alcohol service first, and they can arrange a safe, medically supported withdrawal. Counselling works alongside that, not instead of it.
Hull questions
Yes. Sessions are booked one at a time rather than locked to a fixed weekly slot, so a rota that takes you away for a fortnight does not end the work. We can meet weekly while you are ashore and pick the thread back up on your return. Continuity matters more here than strict rhythm.
Fees are £80 / 60 min, £100 / 90 min and £120 / 120 min, and the first 15-minute consultation is free. If money is the obstacle, ReNew Hull provides confidential drug and alcohol help across the city at no cost, and Hull City Council's drug and alcohol support explains how to get in.
It counts fully. A betting app builds the same cycle of anticipation, relief and concealment that a bottle does, and in a city where insecure work makes money tight the losses land hard and fast. No substance needs to be involved for any of this work to apply to you.
Usually, yes. You need a phone or laptop, headphones and an hour behind a closed door. Nothing is posted to your address and nothing reaches your GP record unless you ask for that. Where a house is genuinely never quiet, plenty of people sit in a parked car instead.
Distance changes nothing, which is rather the point of working this way. Most people begin within a week or two of the free consultation. That first hour is not an interrogation: we look at what you are doing, when it grips hardest, and what you would like to be different.
No - I work online from Hove, so we'd meet by secure video rather than face to face. For a place as far east as Hull, that removes the usual problem of specialist support being a long drive away; you can talk from home without travelling at all.
Usually fairly soon. Working online means I am not tied to Hull clinic hours, so we can find a slot that fits around the port and offshore wind sector. It starts with a free 15-minute consultation about your addiction, then a regular weekly session once we agree things suit you.
Privately I charge £80 an hour, £100 for 90 minutes and £120 for two hours, with a free 15-minute call first. Hull also has NHS routes, through your GP or Hull University Teaching Hospitals, at no cost; those can involve a wait, so private sessions suit anyone wanting to begin addiction work now.
Sessions with me are online only for Hull, as I am based in Hove. People working near the port and offshore wind sector often prefer this, fitting addiction counselling around the day without travel across the city. I offer daytime and some early-evening appointments, and we would keep the same weekly slot wherever possible.
A free fifteen-minute call is the simplest place to start, no obligation, just a chance to see if we are the right fit.
Also available online across Yorkshire & North East: York, Leeds. See all of Yorkshire & North East.
Also available in Hull: substance use counselling, counselling for drinking problems and trauma counselling.
There is more on this in my writing: the four-stage cycle of addiction and the four Rs framework.
If you can reach the south coast, this work is also done face to face in Hove, where the room is — all in-person areas are listed here.
